Made a mistake, and knew it. Test drove one in Stephenville, TX.

I'm old enough to know better, and still lit a fire that's burning three-days later.

Just don't do it.

Your not helpin', just shortenin' the rope!

Haven't been in a 3500, but am workin' the snot out of a 2500 (company ride). There's pros and cons. Long as everything is hummin', new vehicles in general are vastly superior to those of even ten-years ago. It's when problems arise (and they will), that the fun factor evaporates. Complexity and expense are a given for modern iron, far too much of both as far as I'm concerned.

That said, I'm still leanin' towards a second drive, which is mighty close to "press hard, there's three copies". -grins-

*snort*

Sounds like the warranty expires before the truck's paid for - and that starts a vicious cycle, doesn't it?

"Press hard, three copies" -grins-

Isint it amazing that no matter how many issues you read about the new trucks once you drive them you still kinda want one?

Not the same vehicle, but same idea.

I owned a Honda Gold Wing GL1200 bought it new in 1986, one of the last as they started the GL1500 in 1988 IIRC. I had plenty of chances from friends that owned them I belonged to GWRRA and they kept coming and coming and coming but I never drove the new fangled flat 6 Honda cause I knew that flat 4 would no longer feel good enough.

The 3/36 and 5/100 warranties gave me confidence. How's that for shortening the rope some more?

Yeah, even though I never buy extended warranties, I did on this truck purely because of all the electronics. If these new ones go belly up, chances are you're not gonna fix it on the shoulder of the Interstate on Sunday afternoon with a 5th wheel hitched behind it - that's why I have CoachNet emergency road service as well so the truck and 5th wheel can get towed to the nearest service facility. So far, I haven't had to use either, but the peace of mind is money well spent.

(Sometimes I miss the simplicity of the 1960's with carburetors and ignition points - usually I could get one running enough to limp to the next town back then.)

Rusty,

I can help with that problem, still got the 1977 Dodge M880 on the market.

Check my signature - the 1971 Honda 750 still used stone-age technology insofar as carburetion and ignition were concerned - although I must admit that I added a CD ignition system to it back in the 70s when CD ignition was first coming into the market.

I have been thinking about ordering a '15 Laramie 3500 dually. I visited my local dealer and test drove a late production '14 Laramie dually with a 68RFE, 3.73 ratio, a couple of weeks ago and quite frankly, I was a bit disappointed. I liked the 6-speed automatic in combination with the exhaust brake. The 14,000-b. GVWR is over the weight I haul for a change. The fit and finish was very good, but the engine, road, and wind noise was about the same as my '03 3500 Laramie dually and I was not impressed by all the distracting electronic gadgets in the cab. As a result of the test drive, I'm putting ordering a '15 "on the back burner" ... no danger hearing the words, "press hard, three copies"... not yet.

I'm with you in a way. My 1/2 ton that I drive to work is coming up on 5 years after Christmas and I have in the past replaced it with another new one basically on the anniversary date. I've really had great luck with the 4th gen 1/2 ton and my intention has been all along to replace it with another, but this time it maybe being the Ecodiesel.

My current 2010 is a ST (Tradesman) package truck and I'm fine with everthing that it has, cruise, Sirius radio with CD, power windows and locks, etc. We have started looking at new ones and I can tell you that in just 5 years they technology has passed me by. I know that 90% of the electronic functions I will never use. I wanted to buy leather and the nicer exterior trim this time but you have to buy the Laramie to get it and it comes with all of that stuff that I don't need. It's too bad that you can't just pick and choose individual options like you used to be able to.

My wife has told me that I can get a new 3500SRW Crew Cab truck; only if I buy her a new 5er and pay cash for both. I told her I don't want to do that as of yet. But she has started to look at mid price 5er's with the rear living room in them.

Like the trucks, mid priced 5ers start around 60K now a days! SNOKING

I've had my 06 for 9 years and said it would be the last truck that I'd buy!

But you know how it goes " I'm out of warranty, 06 rides rough etc"

I then started reading this TDR and saw all the great things being said about the 2014's so test drove a 15 2500 yesterday (5.7 gas they were out of diesels)

My first thought was Nov. 2nd is our 40th wedding anniversary and what a great idea to get my next last truck that I will ever buy.

My wife's first words were "this thing rides worse than your truck, it jiggles", and she was right.:-{}

So those of you that have the new 2014/15's w/diesel how is the ride? Does the heavy 6.7 in the front smooth out the coils in the rear?

Tell me I would be stupid to get rid of "my last truck that I will ever buy" and go into debt.

Boy that heated steering wheel sure was nice.

The back up camera would be worth at least 6 payments.

No no must resist the dark side.:-laf

We were thinking about it until I got the computer fixed and went reading about all the Problems with the NEW STUFF, I'll just tuff it out in my O4.5
