Well the more I research it, the more questions I have. It appears that DTT has the best TC/vb. Now I need to re-evaluate the engine upgrade. Do I go with Dr. Perf Phase II, or DD2's? How about 275's and a box? I do not want a black smoke special, or questionable longevity.

Anybody with either product, I'd like to hear about it.

I can tell you that 275's and a STANDARD PROGRAM PowerEdge does not smoke at all. 275's and a hot programmed PowerEdge gives a small puff of smoke if you floor it from a stop or from a low rpm. The former combo will give around 120hp, the latter about 140hp. I have had both on my truck. The TST powermax3 gives 130hp and meets CARB requirements, so I have to assume it also does not smoke, but I have never seen one in person. All three of these options are going to be alot more powerful and cost less than the Dr. or the DD options you mentioned. Not sure about the Dr. 's power claims, but I do know that DDII's add 80hp.

Dr. Perf Phase II is 100hp and 200ft lbs at the rear wheels.

Avoid EVERYTHING Dr. Performance sells. The guy who runs the operation, whose initials are B. S. , is an arrogant and conceited person. I am basing this on a couple of experiences, and he has never been a personable man. Even if he had a good product, I would still not buy anything he sells, due to the way he treats people. I have also driven a few truck that have supposedly been equipped with his "Twister" performace upgrades, and I was not impressed at all.

In my honest opinion, Diesel Dynamics has the best products available. Their R&D is top notch, and the improvements they make to the truck are great. I highly recommend DD to anyone looking into upgrading a truck.

Sorry for any harshness against, Dr. P, I am just telling you how it is.

I have a Dr Perf Phase 3 on my 96 dually and it performs well but i don't have anything to compare it with. I think Doc's prices are a bit much at 3 grand installed. It was a quick installation at my shop. I have heard he is a little cranky. It has a 100k warrenty--hope its good.

Woo-Hoo!!!

Sorry to add nothing to this topic, but I can't resist:

Nowel, it is certainly fantastic to see you posting here again! If you can make it to Brandon's in Modesto in April, I hope to have a shiny new set of DD stage 3's for you to install on Godzilla #ad

Again, welcome back!!

I have 275's, a Power Edge (regular), EZ power edge, disabled waste gate and the DDT VB/TC set up. I can tell you that the PE by its self does not smoke at all (with stock injectors), the EZ and 275's on my truck will put out a puff of smoke if you jump on it from a dead stop (on any jumper setting). If I turn on the PE to any setting with the EZ I can get a decent sized smoke cloud... not too bad and only if I jump on it. If you take it easy off the line I do not any smoke. The best part is the truck flies... I must say that will all of this the EGT get a little hot (1350 deg), even with a 4" exhaust and KN-RE0880. Good luck and happy bombing.

Welcome back Nowell

Yesterday I was cruising around near the Dr. Performance shop here in Pasco. The garage door was open and several guys were standing around BSing. . . I drove around the block then came blasting by. . . I rapped it out and gave 'em an earful of my straightpipe #ad

They probably just shook their heads and said "OKay, whatever!" But it was fun anyway, LOL

Of course it would have been more fun to take the HVAC-mobile and blast by with all the boxes and gas turned on. Give 'em a true sense of what Twister Injectors really are #ad

Generally i dont like to comment on on hp upgrades unless they directly affect the transmission performance in and adverse manner i feel the customer should be aware of.

I have had the opportunity to work on trucks with a wide variety of power upgrades including those with Dr. Performance power enhancements, Diesel Dynamics, Banks, TST, and yes even guys like Piers's truck.

When i first opended my new shop i was not a fan of Diesel Dynamics.

However , i was so very wrong, a lot of people including my own customers tried to convince me how good Lawrence and Diesel Dynamics was.

Lawrence, i realized after speaking in depth to him was one of the most knowledgable guys i have ever spoken to in this industry.

It took a long time for the two of us to finally find the proper time for and in depth conversation. I for one am a believer, after testing his products for the last week , i have to say i like them very much.

This is the package i am takig to texas, the dd11 injectors and his DD box. I would very much like to showcase this combo at my seminar as they perform very well with the transmission.

I have also had the opportunity to meet the Dr. Performance reps at Mission Raceway Park in Canada where i was doing some tc R & D.

They offered me their products to test on my truck that weekend until they found out who i was, and that i was also testing the edge box with the 275 injectors and wanted to report my comparitive findings to the tdr members.

They were game they said, and would be back later,

They never came back.

I had a Bank's Stinger Plus on my '99 and had nothing but trouble. After I got a percentage of my money back from returning the Bank's kit, I test drove a Dr. Performance truck and was really impressed. The phase II that I tested was defenitely stronger than my Bank's equiped truck was.

I decided on a Phase III for my truck and have been extremely pleased with it. It performs as advertised. The only comparisons I have were my previous Bank's kit and a posted 4. 3 sec. 40 to 60 time posted by a member with the same truck setup with DD III's and a VA. My truck ran 40 to 60 in 4. 4 sec. in 10 degree weather. I don't know if the temp. hurt me or not. My truck also weighs 7640 pounds.

I am definitely not knocking anybody elses setup, as I have not tried anything else than whats listed above.

I do know that with my Dr. P kit, I gained 3mpg. My max EGT lowered from 1250 stock to 1150 with the kit. Unfortunately there is no smoke either. I have power everywhere across the tack and according to the G-Tech, I had 325 HP when I checked it in Dec. Also I had my dealer threaten my warranty because of the Banks turbo housing, and with the Dr. P kit they haven't said anything, yet. This could be because there isn't anything for them to see. And from my own experiece, I don't think Dr. P was all that you guys say. He was obviously very busy/impatient when I met him, yet he was very polite and knowledgeable. I would definately go the same route again.

To each is there own.

I'm very impressed with the added horsepower I got with the DD3s. I will also be adding the DD (EZ) computer module in the near future. #ad

Read Dr. Ps ad in the latest TDR. Now read it CLOSE.
See what I mean?
Now go to his website.
Jot down Horsepower, Torque, and price.
Now compare it with every other vender who is in TDR.
If that is not enough alone, call and ask for Dyno numbers.
If you have money and time, Dyno your truck before you go there, and then after.
Somebody is going to be hopping mad, I'll wager money on it!!

One point about DD was that they offered FREE dyno testing before & after they installed the injectors. I declined because I didnt see a need to run the **** out of the motor, but it is a nice service they throw in. They offer alot of bang for the buck, and have time for the customer.

Being up here in the northwest,I have had the chance to drive and look at the dyno print-outs of Dr Perf stage II equipped trucks. The power was good, but the doc charges $2500 bucks for an increase that showes about 285-287hp on the dyno sheets.

Now,I went and got the Diesel Dynamics stage II and my truck dynos right at 300hp,and DD's kit is about $900 bucks. No brainer!
