Hi, since i had the 90w gear oil changed out for the correct mopar syn oil & a new hanger bearing i have now got a vibration i feel on shifter, peddles & it makes the mirrors slightly fuzzy. then we replaced the yoke on the rear diff because it was worn . no difference same thing. Then found the transmission mount was shot, replaced that still same thing. The truck is a 2000 6 speed cummins 182k miles. Now I noticed a little groan when i let the clutch out when transmission is cold. I never had any vibration before the oil change. Can anyone help me with some advice on what to check next. The vibration is mostly felt at about 35& 45mph. the highway speed vibes have gone away mostly. Thanks Carl

What did you change oil in? The transmission? When you changed out the carrier bearing did you get the two piece drive shaft back in time?

There is a little bit of play in the carrier bearing housing to the piece it bolts to actually quite a bit for what it is and you need to make sure the carrier bearing is square with the driveline and centered to the piece above that the carrier bearing housing bolts to

Thank you all for the advice. Yes i had my brother do the work in his heated shop because i didn't feel like freezings my ba*%s off outside. I am gonna go under there today & see what i can figure out from all your advice. he pulled the shaft & hanger bearing twice to check them. u joints were replaced last fall as well. I forgot to mention that. He mentioned the shaft goes back together only one way that it has keyed splines i believe.

U-joints have to be phased correctly. SnoKing

SnoKing, they appear to be. although i looked from the side, they were close. Im planning a 3 hundred mile trip in a few weeks with trailer attached & rather not find out what the problem is the hard way. you know in the middle of nowhere at 3am. thats my luck.might jack the wheels off the ground tomorrow & check the shafts for run out & anything else i can check

Hello now i think the vibration im feeling is likely from the transmission/clutch because now im hearing a groan or hum when i release the clutch in first gear sometimes second gear & more when the truck is cold or not used for a few hours. Maybe ill drain out the new synthetic oil & try reg gear oil again. the previous owner may have had it in there for a reason. If no better i can drain & put back what suppose to be in there.

transmission fluid, correct or not, is not going to cause a vibration.

What did the PO have in it and what did you put in it?
