X100 lid gaskets

Hey Cj

I need some lid gaskets for my two X100 filters. The originals stretched out and one broke. Would like to try Viton this time. Where can I get some? It’s been a while since made fuel and been running diesel. The fuel I was making was plugging up my filters bad. I though I had biologic matter growing in the oil but in turned out that the free kero was the problem. It was apparently a lot older than I was told and was varnishing up. It contained a lot of solids in suspension and was plugging both truck filters in less than a tank. Since I quit using the old kero - no problems. Back to the gasoline formula now.

Centrifuge , Truck, Shop update

hello to all

the new centrifuge is done and running it will be off to its new owner this week I will have pictures of it posted as soon as I move it from the machine shop this will be today later.

I have two other housings done also with bowls and motors ready to go.

one of these will be the high speed unit for testing and the other is for sale.

my next project is to solar heat the totes in the shop I have the heater loops made and ready to install then the plumbing for the solar unit , will be making the unit in the next month.

My 2001 dodge truck will be getting a fass fuel system and heated tank before winter hits. I bought this truck in Nov of last year to replace the 2005 dodge we had ,I like this truck it starts better and runs great on the oil but will not run on this fuel at 100% with out the heat tank anfd fass unit.

the machine shop is working out great this winter we are building a bigger centrifuge unit the details are being worked out and the new unit should be started in Dec of this year and should be done by next spring looking to process around 200 gallons per hr :)

new fass unit for my 2001

hello to all

Tonight after work I started the make over of the 2001 dodge I got a year a go. it has a stock lift pump that is weak, will be burning vegetable oil in this one so needed to start by puting on a heated tank and a fass unit,

the tank is a stock one with a heating loop (arctic fox) this was installed and a new dip tube was installed the tank was from a wrecked 2001 so it only needed to be cleaned and all the parts put on it. this was done around a month ago.

The fass unit is a 150/95 big filter unit, the only thing about the fass unit I dont like is the mounting brackets they send, so this time I took my time and made my own using nothing they sent. I wanted it to be rubber mounted and to the frame and up as high as it could be with room to hook up all the hoses to and from the engine and fuel tank. not asking for much here.

the install went great and the holes in the frame worked great for mounting the bracket. the parts I made are power coated bright red the pump housing is red also no other holes needed in the frame dodge put them there

here are a few pictures of the brackets and the punp installed on the truck

thanks for reading

I will post more pictures in the next few days.

hope to finnish the install this weekend if not sooner.

CJ, great workmanship. I always enjoy reading your updates. My work keeps me from doing anything except pulling up to the pump, but someday I'll be home with time to benefit from your efforts.

Keep it up.

the fass pump is not loud in fact you can not even here it run the mount worked out great, the next step is either a smarty or edge for the performance side of my vegoil sickness.

cold weather /fuel / trucks

Hello to all

the trucks are running fine the weather turned cold here we had nights at -10 to -15 my two trucks never did have an issue at this temp I did have some filter plugage with a ford truck running a cummins engine using the stock filter and is still giving the owner a fit the only difference is the lift pump and filtering system .

my trucks have all the same stuff on them tank heater, fass pumps 150-95 or 150-150 heated. and the fuel lines run to the ip along side the heater hoses heating the tank and pump also the dip tubes are bigger . 500 ss tube and -8 fittings suppling the fuel to the fass pump.

I dont think this is the only combo that could be used but it does work just fine.

The 2001 dodge worked the best the vp44 pump starts on the vegetable oil better then the cp3 of the third gen truck.

Over Thanksgiving my 2004 truned over 100,000 miles this truck has been the best truck I have ever owned it started running VO fuel at 32,000 miles so its been running it for 68000 miles ,wish I could put on more miles with this truck.

2001 truck we did some more work to also I had a small coolent leak in the tank fittings and it was leaking on the ground pulled the box off again and installed some ss fittings to the loop heater in the tank this fixed the problem also that day the water pump on the 2004 was changed this is the fourth pump on this engine still the best truck. just crappy pumps. thanks for all your help with this Dave.

trucks and temp

Hello to All

WOW, The temps here have been cold ( so much for Global Warming ,AL)

-19 Below at 7 am the 2001 started and did run after a stop at the gas station 5 gallons of gas in the mix the sign on the diesel pump said it was good to -30 but the hose was froze no diesel fuel for the others to use

the person needing diesel came up and talked to me about my need to put gasoline in my diesel truck I told him my fuel was gelling and I needed to thin it out he asked me why it was gelling and I told him its not diesel but waste vegetable oil. he asked me about putting gasoline in his truck if it ever gelled up,told him what I would do.

The 2004 started right up and was fine no added gasoline needed in it this one got to warm up for an hr before it got driven this got the fuel line and tank warmed up this truck would have the same problem as the 2001 did if it would have been started and driven rightaway.

the fuel in the tank is allright it's when it goes thru the fass pump filters and the cold air passes over the filters this gells the oil if this weather holds I will cover the filters up this will help.

Tonight its going to be cold also 5 degrees now should get down to -5

Happy New Year

CJ,

Since I dont have a tank heater, I just keep more than 50% diesel in the tank during this SE cold spell (low in teen, high in 30s). Truck starts up great from dead cold (not plugged in). Once it warms back to the 50s/30s that is the norm, I will increase the WVO ratio.

Stay warm! The high is 29 in Greenville which is 20 degrees below normal.

Fuel , temp

Hello to all

yes its been a long time work is getting in the way of oil and making fuel but things are cold here so the fuel is harder to use

I am running both of my trucks at 50/50 right now will be going to 100% as soon as it warms up some got caught with full load at below zero and its just not worth the fight when temps dip that low for weeks at a time.

fuel update

hello to all

I made fuel this weekend 120 gallons went to the red dodge (2001) its going to AZ for a week or so, left yesterday and is on the road now.

my two trucks took 50 gallons to fill.

the little vw got its two week supply of 12 gallons

275 gallons went to my job for use in two trucks there (dodge and a ford)

and I have 150 gallons at the oil shop :-laf

PRICE OF DIESEL HERE IS AT 3. 059 TO 3. 159 so its starting to get worth it again.

trucks are running fine with no problems to report

my idea on the cenrtifuge is on hold but it might just happen as i might be selling the two in use if it does i will be getting as much oil cleaned as soon as possable.

the job a took about a year ago is keeping me from posting all the time.

thanks for reading

CJ, always good to hear about your progress. I'm attempting to sorce a few hundred gallons of compressor oil (big natural gas pipeline compressors). If successful I'll clean with my little centrifuge and blend at app. 50% and run it this summer.

Good luck, RR
