Well I got my truck back from Bill and his gang on Wed. and I just can't say how much I love my truck. It puts one hell of a smile on my face when I put my foot down. I can tell you that you can fine good people out there, but you will have to go some to find better ones than these folks. Thanks again to Bill, Shanti, Stefan and the guys in the shop. I hope to get to see and talk to you again, but this time just for the fun of it. And one more thing even the people at the border think highly of them. When you tell them at the border that you are going up there, all the BS just goes away, and thats from both sides of the line. The lady in the Duty Free shop said that she wished that all of the business where as good about taking care of their customers and making sure that every thing is correct for when you stop at the border.

Thanks Again,

Chris

Glad to hear it, what all did you have done?

my truck is currently on the hoist of Greg "lsfarm" long waiting on the forged cover torque converter, smart controller, and input shaft. hopefully this weeknd it will be done Oo.

DTT has been nothing but exceptional to me, Shanti has been right on with calling me back and letting me know of any information. I wish every company I delt with was this over the top. Im just waiting to post my DTT thread once I get it back. Until then ive just about chewed all of my nails off in anticipation Oo. .

Ian

Glad you like your new trans! The DTT gang are first rate, in my book. Good people to deal with and they make a first rate product.

Paul

Ian,

I had the RV valve body, 89% T/C, and billet input shaft and hub done for the trans. And since the truck was down and I couldn't play with it for a few days, I had them hang my exhaust and install the Edge Comp. . Normally I prefer to do my own work, but what the hell, I don't like down time. I have to say they do excellent work and it is well worth the money.

Chris

Chris sounds good!!! I cant wait for mine!!!

Ive got the 89% "hot rod" 48re valve body, I also have the billet input/output shafts, new forged front cover TQ, smart controller, billet 3rd gear all the goodies :)

Hope you have better luck than I did at Greg's. So far after 5 or 6 trips to Gregs 2 different convertors 3 valve body ,big pumps, super TC, my truck will not lockup after 4th shift unless I lift off acc. pedal then Slowly apply acc. pedal to get to lockup to apply. Bill at DTT was not able to say why and has seemed to left it as "some tucks are different than others" Greg is at the end of his ropes and I have a truck that after 5k upgrade it still isn't right. :{

Havn't heard from Greg in a while but did say DTT was going to send another VB to him that was tested on a 99 truck, maybe he has been busy working on yours though

You should call Greg, we are hoping it is not a trans case problem with your truck, the new vb has been there for awhile now so call him and get it in there. If the mods as Bill has customized for your truck results in the same outcome we may very well have to swap cases as that is the only constant that has remained unchanged . It does not happen all that often , but it can happen . So get it in there so Greg can get you sorted out.

Hi Stefan I'm going to give him a shout, just giving him some time, I know my truck has something strange going on and Greg has put a LOT of labor troublshooting! But it does suck I have a troublsome truck that only has 74k, and do feel Greg/DTT are top notch and will get to the bottom of this.

Mleppen, Greg has been working (flying) alot lately and hes had my truck for about a month now (delayed parts and what not) Im looking forward to the trans and greg has been nothing but pleasant to me and keeping me updated on the process. I know hope its problem free but knowing greg he will take care of us.

was it a complete trans?

Ian

MLeppen,

I'm not a transmission expert, but has the tps voltage ever been checked? Mine will not lock up a lot of times at freeway speeds unless I let off the throttle. I adjusted the apps per Bills instructions and it made a world of difference. However this only lasted about 2 weeks now it's back to the same old thing, so I'm guessing I have a bad TPS. Just a thought.

Ian ,yep Greg is a great guy, but man is my truck a problem child ask Greg, said it has been the worst yet!Yes it was a complete rebuild and it runs great but the TC wont lock until you relase acc. pedal then apply slowly. Chaz had his diagnostic monitor while road testing and it said lock up was applied... but TC remained in fluid drive?

I know Greg flys alot and of course has your truck on the rack,he did say he would get me back in and know he will. Damn do I have bad luck:(

Corey,Greg has checked all that stuff but DTT has a new VB that may fix this issue but will have to wait until after Memorial Day.

Only one hoist and one person....

Hi Guys, I'm backed in a corner: Ian's truck went on the hoist and the trans came out, with an expected one week wait for the remaining parts, well it has been almost three additional weeks. Sometimes it just happens that way.

Mike's Vb showed up AFTER Ian's truck was on the hoist, and disabled. If I had known the rest of Ian's parts were going to be so late, then I would have waited and swapped the VB on Mikes truck first. My crystal ball was cloudy.

I have only one hoist and can't drag Ian's truck off the hoist by myself to get another truck on it, and don't want to risk damaging someones truck by dragging or pushing it with a tractor by myself.

Mike, we know your truck has been a real problem child, I'm hoping that the VB will cure the 'lazy-lockup'. We have covered everything else. The tps voltage has been checked and at least five different slight adjustments of the tps voltage have been test driven, with no change.

Here it is Monday afternoon, 4 PM, and UPS has not delivered the TC, even though I paid for faster shipping by air. I leave for work tomorrow [flying] so I'm stuck till next saturday when I get back from flying. I will still have many hours of work and testing and setting up of the trans before I [hopefully] can get it back into Ian's hands.

Trust me, I wish both trucks were done, and working right, and I could just get into the many other projects on the farm here. The grass and weeds never stop growing either.

Mike, I'm hoping that Ian will have his truck on Sunday, and you can drop your's off and I will get the VB swapped on Monday. This is the plan, sometimes it doesn't work out though, as we all know.

Take care guys, Sorry for the delays,

Greg L The frustrated trans guy.

Update: UPS showed up at 6 pm, too late to install the trans, I have to pack and get to bed, I have the alarm set for 0400 tuesday morning.

Sorry to hear you’re having problems with your Trans. I know TSRAM and I love our Full DTT tranys. We had them done at the same time by John at Chips Trans in TN. Great bunch of guys and they did great work on both of them. My truck came out perfect right off the lift, while TSRAMs truck took some tuning to get the shifts down. It didn't take much but it does show what Bill was talking about is true. Each truck is different.

It has been several years now and I know both of us would do it again and the only thing I would change is going with the Output Shaft. I popped mine being stupid a “HEY YALL WATCH DIS!”. Well live and learn. I told Bill what I did and he sent me a new overdrive unit already setup for my truck and all I had to do is stick it in. The truck was only down a short time and has been perfect sense. Thanks DTT.

I can’t wait to finally meet Stefan and Bill at IRP in June at least to just shake their hands.

Good luck getting your tranys fixed, I know you have good people looking out for you.
