Dualies and Slide-in campers

I used to have a 98 8800lb option 2500 that I used to tow the 30' 5th wheel, or carry the 1900lb slide-in camper. Never had a problem, both performed well.



this winter I bought a 2002 3500.



Friday my Daughter and I went camping for the night with the slide-in camper (while wife is in vegas with her girl friends from collage)



All I can say is "wow, what a difference in using training wheels".



Even with the crap stock dodge shocks, its much more stable.



In a couple weeks I will tow the 5er, can't wait to see the difference.

I love my training wheels! I feel like the 3500 setup on these trucks is about the perfect combination. Alot of folks tried to tell me I wouldn't like it in the winter, but it handles the snow and everything else as well as any other pickup I have ever had. Congratulations on yours I am sure you will find more and more how much you like it.

IMHO the dualie is the only way to go hauling a fiver or a slide in. I have both and have hauled the fiver with a 3/4 ton. A world of difference!



I was at the Arctic Fox dealership recently when a young fellow came in with a new 2500 Ram diesel. He said he was coming to pick up the 11. 5 Arctic Fox he had just bought.



I don't know how a dealer salesman can sell someone one with a 3/4 ton single rear wheel truck a 5,000 lb plus slide in camper and live with himself. That poor guy is/was in for a big surprise and I hope he returned either the truck for a 1 ton or the camper for a 9 footer.

I also like my training wheels. I some times load up with 2-40# bags of dog food. Have never noticed any leaning in corners or squatting in the rear. :-laf Hey I just like the looks of them

Pit Bull, you sound like me... I drive a dually simply because it is the baddest (looks) type of truck in out there. They might not be as light or as fast as some of the 2500's, but dam it. . I like the lights and the 4 tires in the rear!

Ya the 2 extra tires in the rear make a huge difference. Sidewall flex on single rear wheel trucks is most of the problem with sway. With 4 tires back there that can handle almost 12,000 lbs it dont flex much. Plus you get the clearance lights to boot.



Just wish Genos sold a pre recorded audio tape of air brake pshshshshsht and we would be all set.

Ain't it great to be Americans! We can drive these trucks just because we damn well want to. I bet it makes the tree huggers crazy... . which increases my enjoyment.

Well eventually....

Mine will eventually be totin' a slide in camper of some kind so it will have to work some day. No real legitimate reason for me to own this truck though.

I like it (hell, I LOVE it!) and that's all that matters.



It sure is one tough lookin' truck.
