Since the parking light is only a two wire light, and has a blinker in it, will this still work? I was thinking of tieing into the trailer light turn signal instead.

What do you think?

That is what I originally thought of doing but the problem would be the marker going out when the brakes are pressed. The solution offered by hoefler is to tie into the front turn signal.

Aren't the front turn signals lit with the parking lights? How does that effect the circuit?

There are 2 filaments in the front lights, one for the parking lights and one for the turn signal. When the parking/running lights are lit, the front turn signal bulbs are acting as a ground for the marker lamps so they light up. When the turn signal is flashing on, there is now 12 volts at the ground for the marker light so it shuts off and when the turn signal bulb is not lit it once again acts as a ground for the marker light. Hope this helps...

Ahh, ok. I gotchya. Makes sense. I didn't realize the front turn/parking lamps were a 3 wire connection (with twi filaments) I thought it was a ground and power, with only the wattage changing for brightness.

:--) SO AWESOME!!

I did this to a Mega Cab dually today and it worked so sweet. Ran one wire from the wire opposite of the ground wire from the front blinkers, to the ground wire on the rear marker lights.

Some notes.

On a Dually Mega the marker lights are a single connection just in front of thr rear bumper on a panel with one other wire. The harness has a connector, that is also pushed in with a plastic rivet to hold it on the sheetmetal panel. One wire harness controls both the red and amber marker lights. The ground is of course, black. Don't tap into the wire, just totally clip it, and connect it to the wire you ran from the front blinkers.

Couple of notes,

Don't even attempt this without removing the headlights. There is no way to access the blinkers from in the engine compartment. Headlights are heldt on with two screws just behind where the grill covers when the hood is closed,

On the passenger side, I ran the wire along the side of the engine compartment, down into the area between the fender and the door. There is a small space to route the wire under the body. I then ran the wire inbetween gaps in some of teh body braces on the passenger side, and then up and over some of the bed rails/supports.

The drivers side, I simply ran the wire down by the ABS controller, and then cip tied it to the fuel/brake lines all the way down.

Overall, I rate this a 10 on the "Looks/Function" category, and the skill level required is "beginner". If you can strip the insulation off a wire, and use a crimper, you can do this.

EDIT: I needed about 25' worth of wire for each side.
