My truck is sitting at my local driveline shop after installation of Detroit Tru Trac front differential, Carli Ball Joints and Dynatrac Free Spin Kit with the Dynaloc hubs. They are experiencing a problem getting the Dynaloc hubs to properly engage. A call to Dynatrac resulted in a recommendation to change out the steering knuckles as that has been an issue on a few installations. Two new steering knuckles later and the hubs still won't properly engage. The tech believes it is an axle alignment issue because the hubs will engage if you lever up the axle at the u-joint knuckle. Has anyone experienced this issue or have any suggestions on what might be happening here?

I edited my post to indicate that what was replaced were the steering knuckles not the spindles. Any ideas from this group would be appreciated. Thanks!

I realize this is a long shot and I may be grasping at straws, but are the base plates(large flat washer) installed correctly. I believe it is item #2 in your exploded view diagram of the instructions. The grooved machined surface should be facing the spindle (towards the pumpkin) and the flat surface should be facing out (staring you in the face). I had problems with my passenger side being difficult to engage and disengage and my driver's side working perfectly. The driver's side was positioned correctly, but the passenger's side was reversed. I guess the tech(mechanic?) had a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

I'm not sure if your application would have this large washer. Are both sides difficult to engage/disengage? When working properly, the hubs should engage and disengage with 1/8 of a turn as advertised.

Both sides are difficult to engage and disengage but the passenger side will not engage at all and you can hear the slotted gears of the hub trying to engage but it will not lock.

That's exactly what mine was doing. I could hear the passenger side clicking. I thought the teeth weren't engaging. I took the hub apart and followed the instructions. The so called "tech" had the base plate facing the wrong way. It won't take long to check. I did in the driveway and didn't even have to change into my work clothes.

If that pdf file is no good, you can download the information from Dynatrac's website.

Thanks! I am heading to the shop in the morning and I will ask them to check it out. I will let you know where this ends up.
