Someone said why didn’t you unload the camper first. I said my wife and I are going on our two week road trip and a friend called need his gill netter boat hauled thru the whitter tunnel and put in the water at prince William sound I just hooked it up. Always nice to have more truck then you need Check out my front basket. Works rather well glad I did it

Same on Amazon. You need to know who your buying from.

You are buying from Amazon. (Splitting Hairs of Amazon sub-seller. It’s still Amazon like UPS delivery company.)

So you have a problem like a filter failure that takes out an engine. As I watched as Bosch refused to cover an engine as Amazon is not an authorized reseller of Bosch Glow Plugs. Bosch Glow plug broke off in an engine, trashed a piston, and NO Warranty as it’s past 30 Amazon days and OEM said “Not an authorized reseller. No Warranty.”

AC Delco, Delphi, has lost lawsuits attempting to keep counterfeit and knock-off parts off Amazon.

Frankly if you’re that desperate for a filter: run the old filter longer.

Authorized reseller IS that important. Make sure your getting them from one as warranty and knock-off parts slip through: who has your back if the $10-20K bill hits from a filter failure.

For those “stocking up” on filters be aware of the SHORT shelf life of both fuel filters and oil filters. Read the date on the filter and use it before the 5 (5 fuel 7 oil) year shelf life. Filters by brand and type vary both for shelf life and “age out” on the engine as well.

An example: Air filters need to be changed at 2 years and some Orange brand only last ONE year.

Did NOT know that about filters aging out (like tires I guess)

Is that now due to the nature of the plastic in the filter media or frame deteriorating whether in use or not ??

Just asking.

So on my 2022 even after removing the air box to turbo hose still looks pretty tough to come from the top down then screw it on 3/4 full of oil upside down maybe thats why they put the hole in the wheelhouse liner I think your experience might be different

Once the intake hose is removed, there is not 10 cents worth of difference between my '21, '01 or '91. The only difference is the fender is taller on the '21, so you need a taller step.

So you do it upside down from the top. My dealer (first oil change did it thru the side) I have not done it myself yet thru the side. I’m on a 2 week road trip . Will be in Canada today cross the border. Very foggy and heavy frost outside the camper this am. About 29 f but warming now onward into the fog

Some years ago, a member recommended replacing the oil filter from the top with the following procedure. Loosen the oil filter, but don't break the seal. Slip a large heavy duty oversize freezer bag over the oil filter. Finish removing the oil filter by hand and any oil spillage will go into the freezer bag.

I have used this method for years and have never spilled any oil.

The treatment to remove water on fuel filter media is the first to age out. = No protection from water.

Then like tires some anti drain back valve materials, where used, hardens as well as the glue holding the filter media together fails to perform. At some point hitting the aged out filter with high pressure cold oil tears holes in the media or tears the filter up: debris can result from the old filter coming apart.

Good timing as I just popped the hood as was looking at the filter on my ‘22. The top doesn’t look bad, but the fender looks much faster and easier. I’ll do my first change thru the fender since I already have the oil filter plug.

Ya better buy some HD filter wrenches, It took all three of mine to get that first filter off:(

Not sure where I acquired it, but I have an oil filter cup wrench the fit the LF16035 filter I use that has an offset place to put in a 3/8" drive ratchet for removal. It has the standard center location as well. The offset really helps with some torque to remove a stubborn filter when removing thru the fender location. Sometimes being a tool pack-rat has its advantages! :D
