My version 8. 0 worked fine until I sent it in for the drag upgrade... . now it won't come on when cold.

Are you saying it won't even turn on because mine does come on but like I said I have never tested to see if it is working until the truck is warm. Mine is also a drag comp...

No lights at all until it warms up in the cab..... then it turns on. The engine gets up to temp long before the box starts working.

Do you have version 8. 0? I have to spike the power or shut the truck off before it will work. I usually just unplug the power wire at the fuse box & plug it back in & it comes on.

yup version 8 and just had it upgraded to a drag, my brothers does the same thing, he lives close to me (same environment) and his is doing the exact same thing after his drag upgrade too. im not too worried about it probably a smarter than you keep you from blowing up your engine type thing. now i just ran it and every other bar was lit up, 1,3,5. . kinda odd.

That is wierd... . I had that happen to me a few weeks ago [every other bar]. I am only trying to figure out if these problems are version 8. 0 only or widespread, but I too have not really worried about it. It is just good to know.

Just got off the phone with edge, the guy sounded pretty competent and that he was well aware of the cold morning box no workie thing but he also said it wasnt a problem so to speak. when i told him of the every other bar thing he pretty much went to the same ol (as to be expected) send it in and we will check it out deal. im personally not to worried about it but am more curious than anything.

The first Comp I bought started the "every other bar" (a common failure on the ver. 7 units) bit about a year after I bought it - Edge quickly replaced it, no questions asked - those were/are ver. 7 units, and the replacement still on the truck is perfect so far.

I just called them this morning to get an RMA to get it upgraded to the drag version. I also asked him of the cold weather thing and the sublevel affecting other sublevel problems and he sounded surprised and acted like he didn't know about either. But he said something about having a different processor issue. So I will see how it is after I get it back. Will mail it off on thurs.

Doesn't it really frost you when you know for a FACT there is a known issue, and the same guy YOU are talking to quite likely just answered a dozen calls just like yours - but he still pretends this is the first time he's ever heard of the issue...

I guess they figure most customers are pretty stupid and uninformed - much like the DC service reps when you come back in with an obvious problem, and they try the old "they all do that" routine...

Well guess what. I just got my comp back from getting the hot upgrade and it too will not turn on unless I cycle the key a couple times. I will be calling them again in the morning to see what they are going to do about it. For a $125 upgrade and then to have a glitch put in it for that is unacceptable to me. I haven't even driven it yet. I just installed it and it wouldn't turn on until I cycle the key. I do not believe it to be the cold either as I just carried it out of the house and within 5 minuntes had it in and tried it.

dude! whats up with these things! mine started acting up on the dyno the other day, thats always fun, 20 people watching you try to be the first to 1200 on the dyno and you say "hey guys hold on i have to cycle the key a couple times" oh well i made it and love the way it runs. i agree with you that for the price it should work. keep us posted

I am hitting them a couple of times. I just sent an e-mail to there tech dept and will be calling them when they open in about 10 minutes. :(

Did you swap injectors or add the smarty yet? What did you get on the dyno?

I just talked to them and they are very aware of the problem. They are working on a fix. They took my info and said since they have my info it will be a free fix when they figure it out. They said to watch the forums and see if someone who is towards the top of the repair contact list has been contacted about sending it in for the repair.

So everyone can keep their eyes and ears open for this. Time to play the waiting game.

They said I could send it in for a new one but since they don't have a fix for the problem yet couldn't say the new one wouldn't do the same thing so I am just going to put up with it for now. :(

Now I am getting conflicting responses from them. Here is the E-Mail response from them. Now they want it back to try it in one of there rigs. And back to the story of not having an issue with them again.

I think everyone who has posted here with the same problem needs to call them and get your names on the list and bring the issue to their attention in as short a time frame as possible so they get on top of this and realize there are a lot of others having the issue.

Bill,

I believe you called in this morning and talked to Misty. We need to test that unit on one of our trucks to verify the issue. We have not seen an issue in the past, especially with just a Drag up-grade. Please let me know, where you are only 2 days shipping from us, I need that module first. I can create a new RMA #, are you still at the address below ? Please advise.
