Friends,
Getting ready to install two cameras with camera selector switch on my 2017 Ram 5500. They will connect to my Edge CST2 Monitor. I already ran the video cables into the truck at the same time I ran the airline and air horn control circuit on my just completed Viair onboard compressor project.
My truck has factory backup camera located above the rear license plate and it works great, but I'm wanting to install a camera on for hooking up my 5th wheel and one on the grill guard on the front of my truck. I'm no longer able to rare up in the front seat and strain my bad back and bad neck to watch hitching. If you have a good back and neck, you may not need the cargo camera. Although there is a kit sold to connect to your 8.4Nav system, its pricey, and you have to take the console apart. So I bought a couple cameras on Amazon for $30 ea and will use them.
My access in and out of the cab is penetrating the parking brake grommet on the firewall. Used a utility knife to slit it.
Here's what I'm using.
Here are video plugs from the cameras. I will feed one video lead up the A post to the CST2 RCA plug and mount video switch right under dash to the right of brake release.
And here is the target, the CST2
So, more to come tomorrow as I execute this project.
Cheers, Ron
