Hello All.

I just ordered my Edge EZ box for my 02. My truck is an automatic.

I have a question regarding the wastegate. From what I understand, there is a brass fitting that fakes out the wastegate actuator, but I think that this is not going to work on my truck since it is an automatic.

I have read other threads regarding the 22 shell, and the turnbuckle methods, but I do not understand what needs to be done. Are there parts that I need to order? Is the 02 with an automatic hardlined?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

rob

J hook or turnbuckle. These are additional parts that you have to purchase. I have seen them on the different vendors sites. Piers has a J hook for 39 bucks. It mounts to your turbo and has a spring and a j looking hook that hook on to the wastegate rod. It will allow the the wastegate to open later. Yes your line is hardlined and that is why you have to do it this way to get more boost. Here is a picture

a 6" turnbuckle and an S hook can be bought at any hardware store for about 2 bucks. I didn't use a spring.

There's a picture in this thread:

Some will tell you it's a bad idea to hard close the wastegate, and maybe so. I've used mine this way for 2 years and 35,000 miles with about 10,000 miles of heavy towing, and my turbo has never built boost over 30psi. Works great for me, and the price and availability is right.
