Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine Backing Off - Noise

If I accelerate hard and while accelerating I let right off the throttle I hear a chug, chug, chug noise (best I can describe it) coming from the engine. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Just the excess turbo manifold pressure coming back through the turbo and air cleaner. Usually called turbo bark. What happens is you have alot of boost built up in the engine then when you let off the throttle quickly it has nowhere to go so it backs up through the system making that noise. If its a stock turbo dont do it too much I guess you can snap a turbo shaft from the rapid deceleration of the turbo's wheel.

HX40's are more known to bark than 35's... . are you running a stock HX35?

I don't know - whatever comes stock in a '98 12 valve.

I can make my stock w/14cm2 bark at will! I need a turbo bad :{
