engine hesitates, but does not die...what's the problem?

I got this 92 truck running and have been driving it to see if anything else needs looked at. When driving down the road, the truck will cut out and if I take my foot off the throttle pedal with truck will stay running at an idle. I can push back down on the throttle and works fine. The other day I hit a bump in a waterway and it acted up really bad, but stayed running. At first I was thinking shutoff solenoid, but wondering if lift pump could be causing the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'll bet you have a bad connection at the shut off solenoid. My truck would run for weeks fine, and then act up at bad times. After cutting off the ends and installing new ones, there has been no problems.



I had a bad lift pump and my truck lost some of its smoke, and some power, and that was the only problems.

It may be your plunger return springs are starting to break. This has been a problem with these pumps since they were all new. Thanks
