Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine shuts off

This problem just started two days ago and repeated the next day. Have been laid up after some minor surgrey and not tried it again. Weather conditions about 28 degrees. Had block heater plugged in for about an hour. Engine starts as normal, let run until proper oil pressure. Continue to run engine a few minutes. When shift lever moved from park to any gear engine shuts off. Acts like torque converter is locked up. Let engine run for about ten minutes, then all is well. I do not receive any messages on the dash panel. Engine justs stops. I have not had this problem before an I have owned this truck from the day it was new. Input appreciated.
