Mounting...

I had the original mounting plate flattened and cut to fit my cubby hole. I'll try to post digital photo in near future; unless Dave Fritz has photo?

Ignition Accessories Option...

Was looking at wiring diagram last night and came across this:

"f) - To vehicle ignition accessories for continuous operation of heater. "

Think I'm going to have to hook up this feature as well. Surprised I didn't noticed it sooner?

jcbrown,

Right, if this is what I think it is, this just provides the ability of the control module to determine if the ignition is on or off. . so it can stay on indefinitely if the ignition is on. A small difference, but a significant one

i also have one, had it on my 95 when i traded it for my 2000 the said they would not give me anything for it so i took it off and installed it on my 2000 the only difference was i needed a 90^ banjo fitting to the fuel pump for clearance. i would never go without one. last year(heater was5 years old) it quit working not sure of the code but it was no flame, so i thought it was the glowpin and got a new one put it in and then when i tried it had a siezed airblower code took it apart again there was crude in there looked like salt from the roads cleaned it and workes good now(knock on wood). as all say it is pricey and took me 2 years to decide to get it but when i did i was mad i didn't get it before. you will love it!

i thought in the glove box was a pain so i mounted mine in front of 4wd shifter. on my 95 i made a plate to fit where the ashtray was and put it there

timers?

I work deep inside a government building (Please don't ask where, if I told you, I'd have to take your rig away - a fate worse than death) with no windows and the only time we see a door appears on an outside wall to walk out of is at 5:00 pm (not a minute sooner).

Do the Espar's have a timer that would let me set it to come on at 4:30 daily - or do I have to bribe the guards, leave the "facility" for a minute or two and trigger it with a hand held remote from a reasonably close range?

Ben Rumson,

You can buy the Espar heater with the 7-day/3-events per day timer or just an on/off switch. You can also add on the remote which can be activated from 300'. I have just the timer with my setup and it works great to start it 30 minutes before leaving work. You can visit http://espar.com/ and view the timer and remote with adobe acrobat.

Get the complete kit, it'll cost more, but you'll have everything you need, right down to the zip ties. This includes the timer, and a neatly done wiring harness. The timer does have three programable presets, but only one is active at any time. I usually only use two of the presets, one for the AM, and one for about an hour before I'll be leaving for work. I activate the morning start when I get out of the truck the night before, then activate the evening start when I arrive at work.

The Webastos are nice too I'm told. My father swears that the Espar is better made, though. I can't personally say either way. I don't think the Webasto comes with an install kit, so you'll have to hunt down the pieces you'll need to do the install. It does cost less though, partly because of this.
