My Diamond Eye 4" exhaust system arrived yesterday and my son and I installed it right away. It was pretty easy and I will not miss my baling wire and rusted out old system.

The original owner had replaced the factory muffler only with a more straight-through design, so not everything was exactly stock or original.

I have a special hanger-clamp left over and can find no factory mount for it. The rest of the special clamp-hangers that came with the kit fit exactly as they were supposed to in the factory rubber hangers.

There is a spot on the rearmost crossbrace under my cab, the same one the driveshaft carrier bearing is bolted to, where it looks as though something was once bolted above the exhaust system. (My truck is a '96 extended cab 4x4).

I suspect there is supposed to be another factory rubber hanger mount bolted on there and would like to know if anyone can confirm that? If so, does anyone have a part number for it?

It may be a nitpicky thing, but I want this exhaust bolted in right and as solid as possible. The only other discrepancy I encountered was the very last tailpipe hanger. I had to weld up my own bracket to go from it to the exhaust clamp. I'm not sure that hanger is original either, but I did solve that prblem.

Thanks!

My son & I both have ext. cabs. I went out and checked ours. There is not a hanger by the carrier bearing, as the cat lives right next door to the carrier bearing. However just rearward of the carrier bearing, almost beside the u-joint on the rear drive shift there is a braket off form the frame rail that has a factory hainger. Hope this helps.

That helps alot, edgeman! I wonder if the threaded holes I'm seeing were for some sort of heat shield now? They definitely look as though something were once bolted there and they are pretty much right above where the heavy cat. conv. used to hang. It just seemed strange that every supplied Diamond eye bracket was for a specific position and was a perfect fit, but I have one leftover.

The new exhaust is solid enough to do chinups, though, so I guess I won't worry about it any further. Offroading and plowing just have a way of loosening things up, so I wanted all the hanger-power available is all.

Thank you very much for taking the time to crawl under your's and look!!

Your welcome, there was not any heat shield in that location on either of our trucks. I have 4 hangers on my rig,and my sons also has 4. His is still stock, mine has a 4" exhost. As for takeing time to crawl under it, Im liveing under it right now, with the mess Ive got, so no problem. You must live in the north country. These trucks will push some snow eah!
