Exhaust Cut-Out

After much diliberation on what to do about the quiet exhaust on the 03 , and searching on here ,(i found a few other posts discussing it but has anyone else done this?), i got the idea to install a cut out , instead of strait pipe , b/c i like running loud , but then there are times i like to just lay low. so , went with the QuickTime 3. 5" electric cut out. was more expinsive than strait pipe , but alot cheaper than say , a whole new 4 inch system , and i really like the ability to open or close it from in the truck , at anytime, ran the pipe out under the truck , b/c i really didnt like the idea of having two pipes coming out the side of the truck. , its tucked up under there pretty well you have to be lookin for it to notice it, its workin really well so far you get some reverb from the bed at high rpms hardly any drone, and im havin fun with it , i hope the electric motor can withstand the punishment of bein under the truck, so we'll see , there are some photos here b/c the were apparently too large to upload here.

So that's a 3. 5" cutout? Do you plan to run most of the time with the cutout closed or open? I too am interested in the longevity of the unit.

yep 3. 5" , im running with it wide open most of the time right now , just depends on my mood, thats really the cool thing about it , being able to switch . yeah , i hope it holds up , i haven't heard anything from anyone puttin one on a diesel, but if anyone has please let me know, , when i was callin exhaust shops the reply i got from most was "what are you puttin one that big on !?"b/c most go on ricers, but we'll just wait and see how it holds up

Doug's Headers Electric Cut-out

Has anyone tried Doug's Headers Cut-Out? Components and Accessories



Unlike all the others I have seen they use a sliding plate to provide the seal rather than a butterfly valve. Seems like there could be less potential for leakage.
