I just sold my EZ and installed my new comp yesterday



and yes the pump wire IS connected via a Blue Chip cover. I'm bringing the truck in tomorow for DTT upgrade, but had to "test" the comp and have to say :-laf Oo.



Only problem I see is its gonna be a pain in the backside to take out the comp and related stuff for the rare visit to the dealer.

I mounted the comp on top of the trailer brake controller.

We have noticed that both the EZ and Comp really wake these trucks up as far as the turbo spooling and torque. Has anyone noted a change in EGTs with the Edge boxes?

Ya the first time I took my truck out with the EZ on I was stoked. I called the girlfriend up and she thought I was crazy. I just towed something heavy for the first time the other day and the truck pulled strong. Pulled a 25ft trailer loaded up with 100 square bales so I figure load on trailer to be about 4500-5000lbs. She pulled good compared to the F150 we were hauling with but he did have the light duty truck with 60 square bales.

On my 01 auto with just an EZ I never saw more the 1000-1200, I didn't have guages before the EZ so no comparison. Also have BHAF and no muffler or resonator so air flow in and out is a little better. I just installed my comp yesterday and on level 5 the egts are scary, you HAVE to have a guage with this puppy. I run level 3x5 and 4x5 mostly so far and cant keep my foot planted on the skinny pedal for long. I have an HX35 to replace the HY I hope that helps EGTs a little, but I'm not gonna drive it like an idiot either. I need the truck to last a long time and remain reliable.

I agree, pretty amazing increase in power for 2 minutes work. The truck whould come that way from the factory.

Unfortunately, I installed my Comp at the same time I installed guages - so have no "before" EGT readings to offer, and switching the Comp off still leaves the turbo boost higher due to the elbow, so that doesn't help...



THAT being said, I've made *1* trip so far pulling our 7000 lb 5er up in the Sierras since installing the Comp, and on 5x3 could not exceed 1200 degrees no matter WHAT I did!



Keep in mind that in a pull like that, boost is well up there - 30+ psi on my case - so the added pressure may make the difference between guys empty and on the level doing the same thing at lower boost. I know I was concerned on a test drive after installing the Comp, cuz empty, when flooring it, the EGT rose rapidly to1100 - so I was expecting problems when pulling - but that has not been the case. The extra boost under load makes a BIG difference in EGT!

The EGts and performance sound really great. Thank you for the feed back. We install these all the time, but I don't get to see what the customers sees as to the EGTs and performance under load.

The highest temps I've seen with the EZ and 275's was 1200 and that was pulling my TT up a big grade on a very hot day. And you are right, the EZ really wakes these trucks up. My service manager took it for a test ride after my axle housing was replaced under warranty. When he called to tell me the truck was ready, his comment was "Man, what did you do to that truck. " I said, "I'll show you when I come in to get it. " His response was "Well whatever you did, you woke it up. " Of course, the proud papa here is just When I did the show and tell, I told him if he thought mine was quick, he ought to visit this site and read about some of the really hot trucks that are out there.





lkennedy - have some bucks ready for a clutch. It isn't cheap, but good stuff usually isn't. There are alot of good clutches to be had, I went with South Bend because of an experience I had with Peter last summer. He actually talked me out of a clutch when I wanted to buy one at the time. I ended up getting another year out of my clutch before I BOMB'ed it into oblivion.
