Recently bought an 07. 5 with 17 miles. Sticker and owners manual says that it has a Remote Keyless Entry and Sentry Theft Deterrent System. I see the red light on the dash go on for 3 seconds when I turn the key on. However, when I use the buttons on the key (key is an integrated keyfob and ignition key, with the plastic end black in color) to lock the doors, the headlights flash and horn chirps, but the red light on the instrument cluster doesn't go into its flashing routine. In fact, if I lock the doors with the button on the key while inside the vehicle, i can open any door without the alarm going off at all. Is there something else i need to do? I've gone thru all the options on the computer mounted in the roof, but didn't see anything that resembled what I was looking for. Did see the options to set exterior lighting and horn enable / disable though. Excuse me if this is a simple question, but this truck has way more bells and whistles than my 01 that i traded in. Thanks.

As you can see from the dealer sticker, it shows both Remote Keyless Entry and Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System, so I'm kinda at a loss here. How could this not be enabled, or is there something else wrong with the truck? Either way, I am assuming that this is probably something only the dealer is going to be able to resolve. Is this something that should be covered by the warranty?

CYauch: I'm not completely certain, but I don't think "Remote Keyless Entry and Sentry Theft Deterrent System" equates to an alarm. The Remote Keyless Entry is just that, you can lock and unlock your doors with the remote. The Sentry Theft Deterrent System is the "Sentry Key", which is a key with a chip in it that you can't start the truck without, (thus deterrs theft). I believe the "Alarm" that you're expecting to have is an additional option. I could be completely wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it all works. Have you asked the dealer? If anyone knows for sure that I'm wrong on this, please speak up...

I have an appt on Monday with the dealer to get the rear doors adjusted so they seal right, and have this on the list to also look at. however, when i stopped by yesterday, it was lunch time, and the lady behind the service desk kinda gave me a deer-in-the-headlight look when i mentioned it. Since no one else was avail ask due to lunch, i just made the appt and left. I thought i'd post the question here on the off chance that either i need an additional part installed, or there was something I could do without having to deal with the local dealer. The place i bought the truck has a much better service dept, but is over 50 miles away so i'm stuck with this dealer for the short term.

Thanks for the info though. I'm wondering if there's something else i need to install. I'm not too worried about not having an alarm, but from what i gathered from reading other posts, i should at least have the flashing red light on the dash once i lock the doors with the remote?
