Factory Bateries

Yesterday I replaced my batteries for the first time. My truck is my daily driver. Is a 2003 and has 210,000. It never let me down until Saturday morning. I am greatly impressed by those factory batteries.

Anyone else have similar luck?

Still have factory battery's in my 02. Don't know how much longer they will last.

I just replaced the batteries in my signature truck, they were both still fine. I kept them for other uses around the house. I travel a lot with this truck, and didn't want my luck to run out at the wrong place or time, like on the Cross Bronx Expressway or some other god forsaken place.

Still have the originals in my 03, only 81k on them though.

Replaced mine a month or two ago. I don't think I got a good OEM set. The passenger side battery lost a cell and killed both batteries. I replaced them with AGM batteries (absorbed glass mat - Sears DieHard Platnum). I'm hoping these last a long time (paid a pretty penny for them).

Just replaced the factory batteries in the wife's 01 last year at 200,000 miles.

I replaced mine after 8 yrs, 1mo before we started our 2011 camping season. I had no signs of them going bad... the green "eye" was still glowing but we camp in remote places and didn't want to chance any potential issues.



I replaced them with Costco batteries.

I usually connect a Battery Tender when I won't be driving it for more than a week or so.

i am on my 3rd set. i think it is more related to how many starts you have and how cold it gets and less on how many miles you have. have have 220k, but mine last 4 winters regardless of miles.

I replaced my OEM batteries at 6 years just for preventative purposes. They were working great, but its cheap insurance to not worry about when its snowing and I have 3 kids in the trucks. They were donated to a buddy of mine and still going strong in his '00 PSD.

I have never understood waiting for batteries to die before replacing them, as they nearly always fail at the wrong time.

Very True !! They never fail in your garage or driveway...

Still got the OEMs in my 2003. only got 105,000 miles, but lots of hours on them... truck has been thru 5 northern winters and now 3 fl summers. . they are starting to crank slower. . I carry a jump box (one that'll start semis) in my truck... so I'll hopefully be prepared with a backup jump when they give up the ghost.

I bought my 04 in Texas in 07 with 110,000 miles now almost 170,000 I try real hard not to drive this truck in our lovely N. In. winters, but do start it and let run for 45 min. to an hour every month or less, as it does sit in the cold. I do wait for a mild day so they don't have to work so hard. Batteries are original as far as I know, with no sign of failure yet. We are going to Alaska in the spring, I've been thinking I should change them, but, if it ain't broke why fix it. I think a good HD jump box sounds like an excellant alternative for insurance only.

I'm thinking it's just a bad batch. Also, I think the OEM batteries are now AGMs.

Had my truck('07) in for service at the dealer last spring. They kept it overnight. The next morning the batteries were dead. I never had any trouble with them. Rumor had it one of the techs left the radio on over night, but who knows. Anyway, they wouldn't take a charge. They gave me two new 850 amp batteries so I'm not complaining. I'll let you know in about five years.

Original still in my sig truck BUT was in shop today and noticed interior light not on. Somehow key got left in on position (who knows when as truck hasnt moved in a few days) Batteries were stone dead.

Put charger on and they are taking a charge so we will see... ... ... dont have high hopes. Hope no other electrical issues arrise... ... .

I know 3 trucks including mine. I still have mine. I do a lot of short stops probably shutting down 3-6 times a day. It was 39* this morning and it spun real well. I have 91K. A buddy has an 04. 5 also over 120K and still has 'em. My cousin has an '05 and just today condemned the OEM's due to a slow crank. One batt is likely shot. By now he should have new Interstates installed.

I'd say at this piont, DCX was giving us good batteries!
