Factory Bateries

I replaced my batteries in 2010, on my 2003. I thought that was pretty good. Since we now live in Arizona, I do not expect next set to last that long. Batteries, tires and windshields to not do well in this state. I was lucky that when the batteries died that the truck was in my driveway. I think that it is important to do a "Load Check" annually in order to see how well the batteries are doing. I bought my new batteries at Costco (Interstate batteries). I was not able to get the same CCA as the OEM batteries, but due to the fact that I don't go anywhere that is below 40 degrees I did see this as a problem, and it has not effected the starting at all.

i have the OEM batteries in my 04. I have 133,xxx on my rig and still starts fine. but i am probably playing with fire. it wouldnt hurt to get a good replacement set.

The OEM batteries in my truck will be nine years old this coming February. After being parked in my shop for over a month, I started it yesterday expecting it to crank slowly. To my surprise the starter spun the engine over like it had fresh batteries... amazing!

Bad batch in '09 as well?? Only 37+k, but I feel that they should last longer than just as the warranty for everything expires!!



The '92 with a single battery has got me to work (almost on time) only AFTER the '09 failed to start!!

I am running the OEM in my 03. I have a 38Ft fifth wheel that I have pulled for 7 years and have charged the 2 batteries on the trailor a lot of times. I pull it from Nov till April I am a snow bird.

I still have the original batteries in my 02 & I know I am going to meet the hand of fate but it was 22 degrees here this morning & it started right up with no problem even turned over good. I should break down & replace them.

I just changed the battery in my wife's 4runner out, it would have been 9 years old this spring. It never faltered, or hiccuped... but it's the rig that runs the wife and kids around. .

Trying the new Gold batteries from Sears. AGM, but 1/2 the cost of Platinum's.

Great post, was just wondering the other day, how long will these stock batteries really last and should I go ahead an preemptively replace them. Just bought my 06 truck in early July it has 109k. Looks like its a safe bet to hang on another season or two:>)

Ah the irony. Just went out and the truck wouldn't start. No cranking. Batteries were on my list of things to replace soon. Not bad, from Oct 02 to today, 139k.



What's the common replacement? Optima, Sears, Costco?

I went with Sears Platinum's, they are Odyssey's and are about as good as it gets.

I also went with the Die Hard platinum AGMs about 4 months ago. The OEMs tested out strong but was pulling my trailer to Oregon and after 8 years plus thought they could fail at any time. Have no idea how long they might have lasted but eventually I'm sure I would have been caught without juice so will file it under preventative maintenance.

Just installed my Costco batteries in the driveway. Truck started right up, which is not a surprise. $85. 99 x2, with a $9 core charge...



I haven't tested them yet, but the original batteries still show green in the little inspection window. The truck, however, was dead as a doornail, so to speak. Overall can't complain since I got 9 years out of them...

OK, now THAT might be a record!!!



I HAVE heard of 7 or even 10 years, but 14 years... that's just great!!!!

My batteries might have gone longer but I left the lights on a few weeks earlier and ran them dead in about 3 hours. They charged right up and both had the green indicator on when replaced but the capacity was down to 456. Unbelievably they both read the same. When I left the Interstate store I said "see you in 14 years". They just laughed. PK
