I'm considering selling my '97 to go to a newer truck. Can anyone give me a ballpark idea what a private sale should be? KBB has me at 3K, but I have 15K into it. A short list is... ...

Rebuilt rearend

rebuilt transmission W/ warranty

engine removed stripped to short block & all gaskets & seals replaced

2 sets of wheels & tires

4in exhaust

AEM CAI

new batteries, lift pump, vacuum pump, water pump, alternator, PS pump.

She's shy of 179K miles

All new balljoints

And a big box of parts yet to go on.

Oh yeah & a new in the box Banks Twin ram also.

It's had the best care I can give it. I have all the paperwork & can refer anyone to the garage that are the only ones to touch it since I bought it.

So what do think it's worth?

I think you should keep it. Sounds like you've got a truck that a lot of people would like to have. You've whipped all the problems and she's ready for a new life.



You'll never get what you have in it back. I understand what's been done and I appreciate the value, but as my daddy always said, it doesn't matter how much you spend on it or what you do to it, you've still got an old truck. Look at it this way, how much will a bank loan someone to buy it? Bottom line, that's what it's worth unless you can find just the right person with cash in hand.

Well I dont know where you live but in my area, northern California nice clean 12V will still go for up to 13k, Id try around there and see if you have any bites, much easier to lower a price then raise.

i think big papa is right. i would love to have a truck like that for a toy if it is a manual, and if i had the cash. however i would not pay nearly what you want for it. your truck stock and the new factory parts i would probably pay 6 to 8k for if its clean. with the solid records and the performance goodies i would be willing to pay 10 but thats it. i think your best bet would be take off all the goodies you can and put the good factory parts back in. then list it for 8k, sell the goodies seperate to who ever wants them. that is going to give you the best return on your money.



again as big papa said, you have all the problems whipped and its got low miles for a cummins and for a dodge for that matter. drive it and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

I paid $7200 for mine a year and a half ago. Used 12valves in decent shape get that much and more here. This is all mostly due to 98's and newer needing to get smogged in California.



I too have put a bunch of money into mine. I have a brand spanking newly rebuild heavy duty transmission from my friends at LeftCoastDiesel in Concord, new intercooler hoses, balljoints, etc.



I love my truck, and I plan on keeping it for a long time.

Keep your truck. Or sell it to me cheeeeep just so it goes to a good home.
