Here's one for you . Stopped at the first street light on the way home from fishing yesterday in Heber City, Ut. Sitting there waiting for the light to change foot on the brake ,and all of a sudden truck started moving. Pressed on the brake harder, and it stopped, didn't think too much of it thought I may of let off some. Light change started thru the intersection, and it took a slight right turn, could hardly get the wheel to move, I was in the right lane, moved over to the shoulder, and it took both feet to even get the truck stopped.
Luck would have it I was probably less then a half a mile straight down the street to a Ram dealer, got it there, got the service guy out, told him what was going on, popped the hood, he was calling it the fan hub pulley, whatever it was, it was hanging loose. He knew from what I told him .He said he had only seen this happen on one or two other trucks. The pulley is held on by what he said was six 8MM bolts . All were out, some sheared off he said, some fell out.
Anyway, he didn't have the bolts, too late in the day, got them this morning ,truck is fixed ,and back home. Pulley was okay ,belt okay, nothing damaged. It didn't make a sound when that pulley let loose. It stopped fine at the light , in that time period waiting for the light , it came loose.
That dealer is 60 miles from where I live, I have dealt with them before, they were the only ones around that had a water pump for the recall in house, so again on the way fishing awhile back
I made an appointment stopped there first thing in the morning, was out of there, and on the way fishing around 10:00 am. My point mentioning this ,IMO they are are second to none in their service department, thats difficult to say these days. Klaxton on here recommended them on the recall. Anyone needing a Ram service department in the Salt Lake area, Heber is a bit out of the way, but they do strive to take care of you . I showed up at 2:00 pm yesterday, and they got parts ,and had me worked in ,and done at noon today. and they looked busy.
The dealership is Karl Malone ,the basket ball player.
