I have had the FS 2500 installed on a 08 6. 7 for about a year and the soot is still there, maybe not as much as before but,

I did a sample at 5000 miles and it said the oil is within normal parameters,I have the exact analysis in a file here . Valvoline True Blue 15w40 CJ-4 13. 5 qts.

FS rep. says that the 6. 7 soot particles are to small to be completly caught in the filter. Now it takes 13. 5 quarts to fill it up and now i have noticed my oil levels on the stick rising slowly? As mileage increases, Is this caused by fuel dilution as it now shows overfull on the stick when i check it whren the engine is cold after about 5000 miles.

And it was a *** drilling the holes in the frame rail for the mounting bracket as there is not much room for a drill and short 1/2" bit up in the frame rails lucky i had a right angle drill. the hoses could have been a few inches longer as i had to tie wrap them up to keep them away from the turbo heat . Route the hoses first before drilling the the filter mounting bracket .

I have found that the right angle fitting on the oil cap return line will rub a notch in the 08 hood blanket and engine movement will rub a hole in it eventually .

I have bought a small piece of Foil Faced "Dynamat" from a stereo electronics store and stuck it up there. it looks good and protects the hood blanket.

Anybody Buy any of these 2500 filters in Bulk i need to buy a couple more ? and a spare fuel filter too.

Also seeing new fuel filters on the market on Ebay that are selling at 16. 00 bucks and do not have the canister with them. Are they worthy or should i just stick with the fleetguard mopar solutions ?

that does not look like my fs2500 filter...

to add to the discussion, i've had my fs2500 on for about a year, not sure of miles. it

1 does not keep the oil from turning black

2 the rubber gasket you replace with the filter is nearly cracked in half ( kind of dry rotted) when i remove them. . i fear one will eventually leak all over my eng comp. hasn't happened yet though.

3 i hate the filter changing. i really wish i had the foresight to go with a spin on filter unit.

it may be doing a great job of filtering, i don't know, i never started the oil analysis game like i thought i was going to. so, ultimately, i just have one more filter to change at the maintenance cycle. i am only changing the fs2500 filter every other oil change though.

i have considered getting the amsoil head and bolting it to my fs2500 bracket or just removing the whole thing and trusting the fleetguard strat. mainly just due to the messy filter change and potential high pressure oil leak.

I try to keep the old FS 2500 o-ring as a spare and use my o-ring pick to remove it from the groove so far so good, noticed that the big o-ring is rounded on the canister flange side .

the pic is of a generic 6. 7 fuel filter that i found on e bay for 16. 00 it does not have the canister. like the fleetguard or the mopar but is a little cheaper.

the fs 2500 has a felt media with metal ends comes with a big o-ring and a small metal rubber washer for the bolt.

I'm surprised with all your mods you don't have a Fass or Air Dog. It would make those filter changes a lot easier. :)

I keep thinking about a fuel pump, but I have had no problems with the stock one yet. I have read about aftermarket pumps failing and the pickup hoses not geting fuel as good as the stock unit with low fuel or aggresive driving. If I go with injectors I am sure I will also do a pump. For now I am modding my new to me 12valve.

Thank you bob4x4 for that statment . I was waiting for another to piont this out . Concidering the average person only drives 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year , it would take about 40 years of owning the same truck to hit 500,000. How many 40 year old trucks do you see driving to work eveyday. So personaly I belive the 600 bucks would be better spent on fuel for driving. Hey we will only know who is correct in about 40 years

I find the price of the FS-2500 is a bit high compared to the Amsoil BMK-21 system.

the BMK-21, EABP-100 Filter element, Aluminum Oil Fill Cap for Cummins with the elbo and all other fitting needed retails for $306. 81, and can be purchased for around $50. 00 less as a "Preferred Customer". The EABP-100 Filter Element is 98. 7% Efficient @2 MICRON, which is pretty hard to beat.

I have had this system on my 03 CTD since April of 2003, and now have 80,000 plus miles without an oil drain. Last Oil analysis with 67,100 miles on the oil showed 0. 2% SOOT and the Viscosity was 14. 6 cSt@100 C. New 40 grade oil is between 12. 5 cSt@100C and 16. 3 cSt@100C. Wear Metals are all very low, and the oil additives are still good! TOTAL oil added for the past 5 years is 4 Quarts! Have changed Filters 3 times. I'm very happy with the resullts. Some may think this is a waste, but I think it is the way to go, as I have saved a lot of oil and filters!
