I'd put my "source" up against anyone in the diesel world. There was a lot more to the conversation then the one line I wrote earlier! Lol If I had bought a D-Max, I wouldn't be posting here!

Your “source” was looking to “source” some more income from you once the dirtymax warranty was up! :-laf

The LP5 is 2017 production... any Truthful source would tell you its reliability is unknown. The LML has had its share of Problems (Bosch) lost the fuel system contract BC of the High rate failure of the GP CP4, Both Ford 6.7 and 3.0 VM and many other power plants (Diesel) use this pump W/O the GP... They all have SCR/DEF problems, That are overdoes By dealers Lack of Knowledge and resources. IMO (some) owners spent equal time on Maintenance & proper engine Hygiene VS complaining they would fair better. Your Truck, Your Money, Your Choices.

Whats up with the posturing???

IMO pick any of the Big Three and you'll probably be happy with your choice. All three have their issues.

Then you can go on the forums and bash the two that you didn't choose. Fun.

Todd has as much experience as anyone on here, and it's not just limited to Ram. There are certainly issues with all three as you pointed out.
Just be glad you can actually change the water pump on your Ram if it comes down to it without dissecting half the front end and investing an entire afternoon. From the sounds of things that would really pi$$ you off! :-laf

Exactly! I really miss opening the hood on my 02 and seeing the ground on either side of that beautiful inline 6!!!

Thats for sure, but I don't miss the noise, having causal talk in the cab was next to impossible... and You never could sneak home and the neighbor's always New your routine.

LOL! Thats for sure! When I sold my 02, I had a 190k on it and my wife maybe rode for about 150 miles in the passenger seat! She hated it.....I never should have sold it!

Now I'm LMBO, thats not quite what I meant initially.......I might need to add that to my signature......she'll never see it!:-laf:-laf:-laf

At the rate I'm going and emissions problems I'm having, there's about to be a whole lot more real estate on the underside of mine :-laf

I hate to hear about the problems everyone is having. I currently have a 2005 3500 and I have replaced the water pump twice in 205000 miles. It is very easy to change. Take belt loose and go thru inner fender well to remove 2 Allen head bolts and take out pump and replaced with gates. I would suggest replacing belt tensioner. I got my parts from Geno’s. Water pump, crank sensor, rebuilt 48 re @ 197,000 and normal maintenance is all I have ever done to my truck.
I can tell everyone I would not trade my 2005 with the 5.9 for all the new 70,000 dollar trucks on the market. They have priced there selves out of the market and the quality of parts just keeps going down.

Updating this thread. Dealership called & had an appointment Monday morning @ 0800. I arrived early checked in with service department, service technician took my truck and stated it’ll be approximately 3-4 hrs. I patiently wait approximately 4&1/2 hrs then go & check the status of my truck. Service writer says work is completed, sign the paperwork & says keys are in it. I get in & head the 25 mi home. Just before I get to my exit my phone rings, it’s the service mngr asking how my truck is, I tell him it seems ok why? Ok, here comes the clincher- oh, well the repair work was Never done! WTF:mad:
Sooo I sat for 4 plus hrs waiting and they DIDNT DO THE REPAIR:mad: That’s 4 plus hrs I’ll never get back!
After much cursing !!!! I go back this Friday and will let y’all know. Last night I get an email for a survey from dealership? Or Chrysler? Anyway I unloaded, customer service is much to be desired. I also heard that FCA is wondering how to pay for the water pump issue for the thousands of trucks with the recall and still hasn’t figured out the transmission possibly coming out of park.

Not sure where you heard that. They will pay it out of cashflow just like every company does.

Ok last & final update- Chrysler C/S rep texted me & said the parts were finally available & at dealership, I got an appointment and bring truck in for repair. Now here’s the clincher, I wait 4.5 hrs, service writer said truck was done. Jump in her & drive home, get call from service writer stating “oh by the way your truck wasn’t worked on!” WTF, 4.5 hrs and they didn’t do a thing. Long story short had to go back days later for original repairs which they finally did 2nd time around, now feeling they owed me for 4.5 hrs the first time & 3 hrs second time I’ll never get back plus 120 miles traveled, I asked for an oil change and dealership pick up the cost of the new transmission filter cost of $70 they were gonna charge me for. It isn’t a whole lot of compensation but it made me feel a bit better - it’s sad that if I hadn’t asked for something the dealership wouldn’t have offered a thing. As with a lot of businesses customer service has taken a back seat all in the name of the greedy owners. It’s getting harder & harder to get quality service/customer service these days.

So what did they actually repair....your transmission or the water pump?
