Any thoughts on the Firestone Transforce AT, or HT in a LT265/70/17 thinking of down sizing my tire size. I really like my Hankook's ATM LT295/7017plenty of tread left, looks brand new.
The Hankook's are the ATM's and had about 12,000 miles on them, they do not even look over 2000 miles on them. This is a very hard compound tire that can stand the abuse. .
So have you guys that are running on the Hankook ATM or Transforce AT driven them alot in the winter rains yet??
Do you like the way they handle in the rain and/or snow or are they unpredictable??
Hard tread compounds that resist wear tend to offer sub par winter traction... though it would be great to find a tire that offers the best of BOTH traction and wear... .
BUT I don't think anyone has manged that yet... #@$%! :-laf
Does anyone have a link to what sizes are available in an E rated Transoforce AT ??
I ran Transforce AT's on my dually for about 50k miles and they were worn out. Great tire for the money (I paid 1/2 what a set of Michelins would have cost me) and they did great in the snow (I spent one very snowy winter in Castle Rock / Larkspur Colorado in 2006/2007 and never got stuck). Now that I live in the south I didn't need such an aggressive tread and went to an all season tire - Bridgestone Duravis R500's. They were a few $$ cheaper than the Transforce HT's. The Duravis M700 is similar to the Transforce AT.
