Correct. You are well within the Amsoil warranty with the given example.

Thanks, thats what I thought. I'll continue to follow FCA intervals, at least while on warranty. Not sure I would want to test Amsoil warranty. Although Amsoil would be the last oil I would use. Gotten by on that old cheap Rotella T4 for the past 20 years.

Friends, I know manufacturer oil change specifications aren't subject to owner opinion or rationalization, but I just have a hard time getting past the time interval. In all the vehicles I've ever owned, I never change oil based upon time, only miles. To make my point, my 2017 Ram 5500 sat on the lot for over a year, yet the dealer did not change the oil a single time. I know this is a stretch, but makes the point. I'm on the crossroads of deciding on this now. I like 10K on the oil changes and for me that can be from 6 months to 15 months.

I have never had an engine failure, never had a vehicle use oil with over 200K miles on the clock, so just changing the oil based upon time interval just doesn't work for me. I know, it goes back to my opening line "I know manufacturer oil change specifications aren't subject to owner opinion or rationalization," but that hasn't stopped me before and won't stop me now.

Cheers, Ron

When I was establish a OCI on my 03 4Runner I did UOA’s at 12 months, mileage was less than 7000. Two years in a row the oil barely made it to the 12 month mark, but it made it. That was with a mid-grade Amsoil. Time was the interval determining factor on that oil.

I then changed to the signature series and it makes it to a year and 15K miles, which is good since the wife is driving more these days.

Time does effect oil, and the lower the quality of the oil the shorter it lasts. At least that’s my experience using UOA.

Without UOA I wouldn’t be pushing regular oil past 6 months, or the Amsoils I currently use past 12 months.

If the 6 mo is so darn important why doesn't the trucks computer tell you to change it??? It does tell you to change it based on your driving habits.

AMZ/OIL right from the beginning touted one year oil changes.

Here is MY proof that 15k changes are just DANDY!!!

We are both named "RON" and we both tow a "DRV" should mean something.

This 2014 Ram , every 6 months ,and anywhere from 2-5K miles. I spend $110 total per year on two oil changes . I don't do oil analysis , and I am not looking to get 500k miles out of any truck I own, so for me it makes no sense spending the money on analysis , and expensive synthetic oils. It does pain me a bit on the six months, but its $110 per year, not really an issue, other then I feel I am wasting oil ,and filter .

I find it interesting on your 6 months ,and regular, oil yet some do it mostly on miles , and for me thats a year, and I'm sure for others. As one stated he likes 10K, and for him he said it could be 6-15 months. I like the six, not sure on the 15 .

I know, I have been told many times, but what is the benefit of this Amsoil for "YOU", is it the once a year, its not a cost benefit, probably costing you more , plus adding the analysis . I'm guessing that Ram will never see 100K during your ownership. Pretty sure I know whats coming, but just curious anyway :D

Unless the new HD's look different than what I have seen so far I will be keeping my 15 for some time to come.

I do the analysis mostly for fun to see how things are doing. Now I do know by doing so my engine is doing VERY well compared to the average 6,500 mile change. So I have confidence by keeping my truck for the long haul it will last a long time based on the test results.

Also when the time comes to sell I have a record to prove the condition of the engine and will fetch more than the cost of the tests.

I keep very good maintenance records on my truck. I follow the manual pretty much to the letter. I do know that I have NEVER been asked for my maintenance records, but there is always a first. I'm wondering if they will deduct my selling price because I didn't use Amsoil :D

This is exaggerating a bit ,but they were standing in line for my 99 7.3 Superduty 350 when I sold it, and I got top dollar for it, and I used that cheap ass Rotella ,go figure

I had an Amsoil bypass oil filter on my 02
3500 while pulling heavy. I got 35K miles on the same oil before I decided to do a full change. So, honestly, not much of the original oil was there when I was changing filters (about 2qtrs) every 5k miles and doing oil analysis each time. Sold truck with over 200K miles didn't use any oil. When I had three Cummins Rams, I po purchased 33 gal drum of Amzoil 15W40 for them. My last 09 4500 I used that Amzoil and at 10K miles, no time interval. Ron

Aside from the bypass filter my annual oil change costs $120-130, and I only have to do it once. Well worth $20 extra, IMHO. I also don’t feel like I am wasting oil/filters.

I also like the synthetic benefits at extreme temps.

Dealers don't care one bit they just want a truck that LOOKS good so they can make a profit. Selling outride it WILL get my much more $$$.

12 quarts 15-40 Signature series shipped to me including sales tax is $105 plus 15 for the strata pore filter.

Next change I may go to the AMZ/OIL Donaldson filter since the Start is made in Mexico now!

The DBL7349 is a much better filter anyhow. I buy them 4 at a time from filterspro and the price is the best I've found.

I have sold many vehicles outright, not trading them in . Sorry I have never been asked by anyone if I ran Amsoil or any expensive synthetic for that matter . I got what I was asking for it .

Lets stick to what the synthetic benefits are, and quit blowing smoke on the supposed value of a truck using synthetics

I would advertise the FACT I have done samples at every change and have the records to prove it. As a buyer that gives a rip I would be into seeing something like that.

I showed my reports from EVERY oil change and they are very good at the full 15k. Not blowing anything just SHOWING what I have done. I could go longer but I will wait to do so after my warranty is up.

I have a different opinion , and experience, but we all do. I have gotten top dollar on every vehicle I have sold outright, and this sample thing, and records, and such has NEVER come up , or even asked . I am sure there are plenty of guys like you that require all those records ,and analysis you do, but luckily I have NEVER run across such an individual .

I take very good care of my vehicles, but all this synthetic, and oil analysis is not a concern. To each his own.

My point is offering the info as part of a sale will fetch MORE $$$.

YES do what works for YOU!!!

You don't think Dino oil has synthetic additives?

I don't care what Dino oil has in it, whats your point on that. My point is the benefits of the oil I use, and I have gotten ALL the benefits I need out of the Dino oil, they can put whatever they want in it .
