Bottom line I didn't just talk about what I do i showed the results of what "I" do. So for about $150 every 6mo including my Blackstone report "I" am happy.

NOT criticizing what anyone else is doing.

NOT saying this is what everyone should do.

We OK now?

Oil discussions....always a good time.

Opinions and preferences are sought on many topics. Not just oil discussions. I often read reviews of products before trying something for the first time. It is everyone's choice whether they think it is worth their time and effort to contribute. I have been convinced that the present day Dino is adequate for 85-90% of diesel truck owners.

Because of the crankcase fuel dilution identified by 1/2 of my UOA's, i have preferences for certain types of synthetics. The fuel dilution was caught early enough that it seemed not to increase any wear metals. But i have identified some (in my opinion) oils that will suit my needs better. And i shared my preferences.

I would stress that improving filtration (over what the stock mopar filter offers) and regular oil changes is more important than the brand or type of lubricant.

I know nobody cares on here , but i just renewed my preferred customer account with Amsoil because i regularly use their bypass filters. And ocassionally use their lubricants (oil, transmission fluids, diff fluids) for peace of mind. Their bypass filters are less messy than the toilet paper filters, and they don't need changed often unless i see fuel dilution. In fact, i could easily go with the stock mopar or non-stratapore full flow filter since the bypass is so effective. But the price difference between the stratapore and the non stratapore is so small, it just makes sense to go with the higher quality filtration

FWIW, I hear that Fleetgard plans to release a Nanonet oil filter for the 6BT.

That would be cool.

Their nanonet fuel media is pretty impressive, so oil media should be as well.

Until then I'm sticking with the DBL7349.

I'm patiently waiting for a nanonet filter/separator to replace the old FS1232 equivalent, but I reckon I'll wait forever.

Aside from the bypass filter my annual oil change costs $120-130, and I only have to do it once. Well worth $20 extra, IMHO. I also don’t feel like I am wasting oil/filters.

I also like the synthetic benefits at extreme temps.

John,

Do you expect to install a bypass oil filter on your new truck?

Yes.

I am unsure if the previous owners did any oil changes in the 3200 miles they had it, but the oil was changed at 3200 and I'll be changing it after my first towing trip. Then I'll run Amsoil ADP all summer, and install a bypass and switch to Amsoil DME in September.
