2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Four Wheel Drive question ?

Is there any problems with parking the truck in 4 low for 3 or 4 days ?



In the winter I do some snowmobiling and park the truck for 3 or more days without moving it. Sometimes it snows quite a bit while I'm out. In the past I have parked the truck in 2 wheel drive and it has been pretty hard to get it in to 4 low without being able to move it.

Should be just fine. As an added bonus, it will keep the front wheels from turning (say if the rear was parked on ice, and the front on dry pavement).

If someone hits it in the back, it will stay like that PERMANENTLY.

pcorssmit, ( less likely to slide anywhere ) that is a good point that I never thought of !



reduaram... do mean that it will be stuck in 4 low if someone hits the back of the truck, or I should say back of the trailer ?? Please explain.

No, I mean it will stick like your eyes will stick if you cross them and someone hits you in the back. It was my weak attempt at a joke.

You will be just fine. You know with a 2wd low kit, you can leave the transfer case in low range, and just disconnect the axle. Works great, no wait to engage, no wait to disengage.

The owner of an opal mine near Blythe, California used to keep her mid 1970s Jeep J-20 in low range for months. When the time came to head to town, it shifted out just fine. It's just gears and links.
