I had recently bought back my '97 that I sold to a friend several years ago, and the first thing I noticed was a hard brake pull to the left. I checked the calipers, pads, etc. All looked good. I also noticed that after releasing the brakes, the truck would slightly pull to the right. I thought it might be a collapsed hose, which is what it was. There is a steel bracket attached to the hose, and the bracket rusted so bad (where it clamps around the hose), that it crushed the brake hose under the bracket. Here's a couple of pictures of the bracket and hose.

Here's the bracket: #ad

Here's how the rust crushed the hose: #ad

This is what the cross section of the hose looked like in the crushed area:#ad

I'm sorry if somebody had posted this before, but I didn't find it on a search. After replacing the hose, I ended up replacing the other side, which was also crushed under the steel bracket. I guess the best thing to do is just replace them when they start to rust/age.
