Message center ABS, and brake warning lights started coming on, truck started shaking during braking above 35mph, warped rotor type vibration upon braking. Took her apart to find 75% on pads even both sides, in/outboard, however right rotor outboard slight grooves. Decided to replace pads anyway, emory papered the outboard with a large socket as a sandblock, used wire brush on drill to clean-up. Reassembled all new hardware/clean. Test drive: slight vibration braking above 35mph, quickly disapears. When at idle, message brake warning/ABS lights on, but will go off with small increase in RPM's. I wiggled some of the vacuum hoses at idle the message lights went off:confused: Any help is appreaciated:D

Happy Holidays to all of TDR members/readers. TDR the best resource known to man:-laf,

Patrick, long time, no see. Hope all is well out your way and that you have a good Christmas.

You didn't say, but do you have good pedal feel? I have had the warning light come on before when my rears were out of adjustment. However, when this was happening I was also having to give a slight second pump on the pedal. After doing that the light would go off. I turned the starwheel out on the rears and it took care of it.

Front brakes message lights...

The pedal feels normal. Only driven about 10-miles since doing the work, mixed freeway and neighborhood streets. I'll try the rear adjustment closer to the New Years Holiday when I get a break. Am I looking for trouble  with the message light coming on? Thanks for the quick reply. I'm always reading TDR, trucks been running good :D till this situation.

She's not my daily driver, weekday/end light hauler. I drive a 37-year VW Bug daily:-laf

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Patrick.

Whenever my warning light comes on and either weather prevents me from fixing it, or I'm just too lazy, I do this:

1. Drive a little bit slower.
2. Look further ahead in traffic.
3. Keep an eye out for saplings close to the edge of the road. :-laf

If the light went off when you wiggled some vacuum hoses, I'd say a bad vacuum sensor. Located right behind the left hood hinge. Had a vacuum hose attached to it, with a plug in next to the hose. Unplug it and see if it goes out.

Bypass the RWAL valve when you get the chance- you wont regret it. Might have to do it yourself. Most shops wont do stuff like that if it affects the "safety" of the vehicle's brake system.

I missed this until Daniel mentioned it... I had the plastic T near the booster crack... it was a very small crack that I didn't find until I took it off and looked under a good light. It was a cheap easy to get part to replace and solved the vacuum problem.

Hope this helps.

Msg. Lights still coming on...

I'll check the plastic Tee next. The brakes function well, but he light comes on at idle, or getting off the freeway as I decrease speed. I've check all the other posted items listed. How does the vacuum pump indicate it's not working properly?

Thanks y'all :D Patrick.
