Hi All,

This week I dropped off my truck at a friends body shop to replace my headlights, fog lights, upper bumper cover, air dam and installation of mopar tow hooks.

The front of the truck looks great with all the sun damaged parts replaced and the new tow hooks. The problem is the front bumper appears to be about 1/2" lower than it was. There is now a larger gap below the headlights and grill and the top of the bumper. It looks like there is at least 1" between the black plastic cover on the top of the bumper and the bottom of the headlights and grill.

Has anyone else seen this problem when installing the mopar tow hooks or reinstalling the front bumper ?

I'll try to post a picture later today.

Thanks

It takes some time and patience to get the correct front bumper fit. Since the body shop did it wrong, take it back and let them do it again.

pita to get right by yourself, use a floor jack with a 2x4 under the plate area get it on the chrome of the bumper jack up gently rock it around, nailing the bolts up in the radiator support is a pain, one guy can do it 2 is best one holding it and watching the gaps and the other underneath with the air ratchet.

I recently removed and rebuilt my front bumper (note it is a sport) and I have tow hooks and a front brush guard which use the same mount holes. I also installed new headlamps at the same time. I spent much time trying to get it with the proper gap but I also ended up with a slightly larger gap than original.

It may have been because I personally powder coated all of the brackets and mounting hardware which may have closed up some of the holes. Not sure but I feel good that it has more protection against rust than it originally had. I'll live with the slightly larger gap

Ditto, if it's a buddy, they'll understand, and shouldn't have a problem helping. It's definitely a PITA by yourself.

I put on a used bumper about a year ago when I bashed my front end up and had the same problem. I corrected it myself by loosening the nuts up enough to where i could position the bumper where it looked good with the grill, with it still being somewhat tight, then went back and snugged them all up. I think it was pointing down, had to raise it up and it closed the gap up.

On my '95 it wasn't that hard to adjust the bumper, only four bolts. I had to lower the front a bit to straighten it out. The floor jack and a block of wood will definitely make the job easier.

The bumper mounting holes are a little oversized. I added a Curt front receiver (which uses the same holes) and had to jack up the bumper and align it before tightening the bolts. Easy (almost).
