Getting about time to do the fuel filter on the 6. 7, I understand about the removal of the tire and wheel. and fender liner then drain the filter and change it How do you reprime the system? and get all the air out. on my 96 I just used the hand primer. Thanks for the help.

Its self priming. Turn key to start and just bump it. Don't try to start. Fuel pump will run for a several seconds and put fuel in cannister. May need to do this a few times. Then try to start. The injectors etc. are self bleeding. DO NOT open a injector line. There may be info in the owners manual on this same subject.

I just changed mine and it can be done from inside fenderwell without removal of anything. There's enough room to use an oil filter wrench to loosen. One reccomendation though, Completely drain the filter, not just a cup full as recommended from installation instructions in new mopar filter box. I had to turn it on it's side and slide it out in front of the axle. You can install the new one through the fenderwell with a little convincing on the plastic. It's a little hard to get it started. I have fairly large arms and hands and could work them from up top to screw the new filter tight once I got it started. It primes very easy. Just bump the starter and release the key and fuel pump will continue to pump about 24 seconds, then try again. I had to do this twice and then the truck started immediately and no air in system. Hope this helps

pull the drain hose off the bottom. fit your standard ff wrench around it. it can be changed from the top very easily.

You don't need a ff wrench to remove it. at the bottom of fuel filter canister is a place for a 1/2 inch drive universal extension which can be used to loosen the filter. After it is loose you can reach thru the side and finish removing. Be sure to have a bucket underneath to catch the fuel. There will still be quite a bit left even after you drain some out.

Be careful getting the threads started correctly,it is only plastic

I second this! I tried to do it from under the truck and was partly successful. I was able to remove it just fine but for the life of me I could not get the new filter started. It kept going on crooked. Finally I gave up and removed the tire and wheel well. Went on perfectly the first time. I dunno what the heck I was doing wrong from under the truck...

filter change

I did do it from the wheel well. I looked at it from the top. to far down for me From the bottom I could see a big mess with me in it. So off came the wheel and liner . I used a short length of plastics pipe to extend the hose into a bucket. then when you crack open the threds the rest comes running out. After that is was a clean job Took about 45 min. but no mess and worked fine. Thanks for the help.
