Who makes the best replacement filter for an 01 stock canister? I have been using Wix. Are there any filters with better filtration specs then the Wix.

Thanks

well I will help you out with what I have had good success with. fleetguard filters are made by cummins. I have always used these. cannot comment on wix. there are alot of choices and choices. but you can get a good deal through Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories – Geno’s Garage plus they are a good source for other fleetguard filters. if your just needing one your local cummins shop can get it for you. but if you want to stock up on them and oil filters. geno's has a bundle package or buying multiple filters will justify shipping cost.

do some looking at geno's they have alot of basic maint, parts and oem replacement parts. but if you have a local cummins dealer ask them if they would give you a discount if you bought a few filters never hurts to ask.

hope this helps.

You can Email any of the manufacturers for the more specific details of their filters. I use Hastings filters because I have a very good source.

The FF1160 is spec for 98. 502 and FF1260 is spec for 03-07.

When I emailed Hastings for the numbers, I got the following reply:

FF1160 has a 1 or a 2 nominal with a 10 absolute micron rating

FF1260 has a 1 or a 2 nominal with a 5 absolute micron rating

Both filters are exactly the same dimensions. I use the 5 micron filter in my '01. I see more pressure drop across it at WOT than I did with the 10 micron, but fuel pressure at the VP44 inlet still stays in the safe range.
