i have asked any people for ideas on what could cause whats going on with my truck and no one can give me any answers.

so first the truck has bottom end tapping noise that is louder on the drivers side. next when the truck is cold, anything below 150 degrees engine coolant temp, it sounds like its running out of fuel at certain rpms, first is wont go past 1500 rpm, you drive it for a bit, then it wont go past 2000 rpm, drive it around a bit, then is wont go past 2500 rpm, then you evenually get full power back. almost sounds like a 2 step in a gas car at those rpms.

im looking for any ideas on what to check.

p0706 transmission range sensor. i was told its not worth fixing cause all it does is tell you what gear your in. and changed air filter, im going to change fuel filter, and test the lift pump psi this weekend. would any of that cause the tapping?

sounds like injector knock, but i'm not sure these years have that... best to wait for more help. sounds ok to me though...

I use a piece of heater hose and touch part of the engine with one end and place the other end on my ear, the same way a doc uses a stethoscope to listen to your chest... I'm hard of hearing and this allows me to track the sound to closer to the source.. the noise gets louder, your closer... etc... maybe this would help

NEVER ignore dtc's.The dtc is worth fixing before it gets worse -loss of back up lights no starts etc.Sounds like you should probably find a better tech to look at your truck

I took the truck to a transmission shop and they told me that if the shift indicator being wrong dosent bother me then its not worth it to get it fixed cause you have to drop the entire valve body to replace a sensor that just shows the gear your in on the dash.

There are 5 diferent switches involved, the code you have is a rationality code. The pcm is seeing an invalid signal-a combination of switch positions that it doesn't expect to see without a failure being present. It does not have to be the sensor it could be wiring, connector or pcm.If it gets worse you can have a no start condition at the worst possible time or even excess metalic debris in trans.

Ok so today I put the banjo bolt on it to test fuel psi and I'm getting 9psi lift pump pressure, I changed outbthe fuel filter, and I checked the fca (it rattles when I shake it, and ohms out to 3.9). And it's getting way way worse. Now the truck acts like it going to die the entire time I'm driving it. Honestly acts like it running out of fuel.

You asked for help and Bob 4x4 is a mechanic, try listening to him, He gave you some sound advice, Good luck on finding the problem, Monte

I brought it to a transmission shop and they told me that what's the trucks doing has nothing to do with the code. However the p0706 code is not something wrong inside the transmission. It either the tcm or wiring harness and if I want to fix the code I need to pulse the harness to find the break and if there is no problem in the harness I need to replace the computer.

He also talk me that the issue with how the truck is running is something fuel related.

Asking people what is wrong with your truck on a forum is going to be tough on a complex issue. There will need to be test performed and data looked at.You don't have access to the equipment and info that will make this happen.Good luck and try not to get too frustrated before you find a shop that will do what is required

Find a different shop that actually knows something, that is not ALL the range sensor does.
