Fuel Prices still rising

I have seen gas for $3. 339 and diesel for $3. 65. 9 but I haven't seen any diesel lower than gas prices. You nailed it Bignasty, when the kids get out of school and everyone hits the highway the prices always go down? bg

His successor inherited $2. 00 nationwide average regular gas at the time of his inauguration. Bush eased up on Gulf drilling restrictions and the price of oil plummeted.

As much as it pains me, I have to give obama a pass on this one. Certainly his policies have much to do with high gas prices. But the reality is that the reason gas was so much cheaper at the end of Bush's administration is because the world economy was in a free fall. Banks were failing, people were losing their jobs in huge numbers every day, etc. We were looking at a possible world wide depression. And a huge reason for the free fall was because of the rising price of oil and gas.



Bush did a couple of things policy wise that should have helped to lower gas costs. But I think there was quite a bit more that he could have done. For example. I think he could have been much more forceful in opening up off shore drilling, as well as expanding drilling in Alaska etc.

Interesting to me that the county I live in has some of the highest diesel prices in the state. We also have the most refineries most of them within 25 miles of where I live.

Hey Regcabguy I am not going to respond because earlier I broken one of my own rules to not get involved in anything political on TDR. we can go back and forth with facts and figures till the cows come home, but the only thing we'll get out of it at the end of the day is cow pie. I just got upset when I wanted to post showing that for the first time in months diesel is lower than gasoline. and someone has to make a political statement that has no relevance or spirit to the thread.

TDR is a place I go to for enjoyment and knowledge. I do not want to argue or play pecking order with any of its members.

The next time I'm in San Diego I hope we bump into each other and both have the time to sit down and have some coffee together. I always end up at Mary's donuts on Finita in Santee.

Sure no problem. I'm really no fan of either of these guys. Lots of worldwide conditions govern the price of all commodities.

There was an article in the paper just yesterday concerning a woman who was employed by the oil industry for years who's running an algae to oil company. Unlimited potential in that industry. She stated like many that we can't drill our way out of this dependence on fossil fuel domestically sourced or not.

Several years ago we drove from Texas to West Virginia without filling up, (pulling 5th wheel). I had a 99 with 110 auxillery tank at the time, filled up at Flying J and it was $345. 00, I had to take the wife to ER to get her heart started again. Diesel was about a dollar less per gallon at that time. bg

Sure seems like everything is getting expensive.

Demand is way down. There is plenty of supply (except where supply has been manipulated)



The economy is still in the toilet. Everything is getting more expensive because the cost of fuel keeps going up.

Even if the price of oil goes down the ethanol that the farmers are producing goes up look at the commodities market. So the price GOES UP

Crude oil dropped down to $86. 53 yesterday, but prices aren't dropping much at the pump.

Ive heard that the refinery that was down here is back in full production. I dont know how long it takes to get a "lower" oil price to the pump. But prices havent budged a penny here.

Ok guys, in southern ontario, it's about $5/gallon. no complaining. I fill up once a week and it's $160 every time. Diesel has been $1. 29/litre for the longest time, and has now dropped to $1. 19/litre for SOME relief... .

We have been watching the prices drop in the Sparks/Reno NV area. Sunday we saw fuel for $3. 82 at Safeway. Pulled in, swiped my card and got our 3 cent discount making it $3. 79. When I read some of the comments posted here I fear for the future of America.

Some of you live in states dominated by the political party whose primary plank in their platform is tax and spend to buy the vote of others. Your states impose higher taxes at the pump, higher taxes on business, and create restrictive regulations and insist on special fuel blends that increase expenses and reduce profits for oil companies yet you are the first to be here complaining about fuel prices.

Refined products, gasoline and diesel fuel currently in storage tanks and being sold was refined from higher priced crude and was purchased by retailers from wholesalers at higher prices while the WA refinery was shut down. Retailers are not going to immediately drop pump prices to a figure below what they paid for fuel supplies a few days ago just because the refinery has now come back on line.

I would love to see states like WA and KA take over retail sales and distribution of motor fuels eliminating "greedy" retailers. The citizen of those states could enjoy the efficiency and great customer services currently provided by DMV offices in your states. Instead of the "greedy" small businessmen struggling to make a profit in your fuel stops you could have obese women with attitudes with state pensions behind every counter and "low prices" set by your state legislators similar to your state income taxes, sales taxes, etc.
