I just had an odd thing happen. Atleast, I think it's odd. The large plastick nut that holds the fuel pickup unit in the top of the tank came loose the other day. We found out after my wife filled the tank. Fuel is everywhere.

Anybody else seen or heard of this?

I've seen the large ring nut crack and come loose. Figured it was from overtightening. Manual says to replace the seal every time the nut is removed, I never have and haven't had a problem.

I was concerned about a crack, but it looked okay. It's hard to make a 'close' inspection in that tight space. At least with a 4x4 I was able to sit down and look it over.

Sometimes when I fill my tank to the neck and then go straight home mine leaks out the top some as well especially if it gets hot. All looks good under there though. I now make it a point to not fill it to the neck if going straight home.
