Radiator question

Transmission light on the dash

I'm about to go through my high pressure system and replace it all at once. But where to start and any threads with instructions and pics? My truck is a 2003 HO 3500 6spd dually one owner has 340000 with no problem. Figure its about time though don't want to wait till bigger problem. Thankx

When you say High pressure system what do you mean specifically? Injectors? Lines? Rail? CP3? I agree in the general sense that if it's not broken don't touch it but sometimes it's a situational or strategic decision that needs to be made looking forward.

For example now isn't the time to buy used cars but If the deal is right on a set of new injectors I'd get them lest the world has another semiconductor chip shortage and prices spike. I'd rather have and not need than need and not have. Injectors do have a finite life. It's fine to quote from personal experience about how long you've gone but injectors are something that can leave you down; its not a contest. For what its worth I replaced my 03 injectors around 210K-ish. My truck had been through 4 owners prior and from the condition I received her, she didn't inspire confidence about how much was spent to keep it properly maintained. Judgement call, especially if the accountant says "go ahead".

Sorry didn't mention that ive started to getting diesel in my oil. So either from what ive read injectors or pump leak.

That definitely changes the conversation if you have a problem needing to be addressed. You could spend the time to have them tested (Injectors/CP3) but at that mileage if its all original injectors and a pump can only do you good.

How is your blow by? Any smoke on cold start from a potential leaking injector tip? If you have an EGT or rail pressure gauge it could help confirm what's happening inside.

No blow By. was serviced regularly just figure to cut down on contamination doing pump. rail. lines and injectors all at once and go another 400000

I'll have whatever you're having.

I personally wouldn't be as concerned about the lines and the rail unless you're in a corrosive climate. I would get a new pressure relief valve along side of injectors and a pump though. Either way that parts cannon can't hurt.

Don't forget the crossover tubes.

I would take a cheap shot at someone about this but I know they'd fire back that my pos isn't running 100% after all I've done.

But yes don't forget those tubes, Injectors being replaced should imply that in all cases.

Exactly thats where I got it.
I also thought of one more thing all this started when I replaced fuel filter and lift pump

FWIW, The I did my injectors (and tubes) I replaced my rail, PRV, sensor and #4 injector line. All the rest were in great shape and my budget was getting thin because I also decided why not throw some head studs in her while she is apart. Cleanliness is important when doing this along with torque specs. Good luck and let us know if you need some help.

I don’t understand the desire to replace the rail. It’s just a pipe that everything connects to. Nothing to wear, doesn’t get contaminated. The only one we’ve ever replaced was damaged by cross threading.

Because it is way cheaper to buy a full assembly with the rail instead of all sensors without the rail.
I don't know why but all together is just a couple Dollars more then just the RP Sensor.

But yes from a technical view there is no reason to drop that tube.
