With all of the new info in the past couple of days regarding problems with the Superplug and my finding that mine was only finger tight after 3K miles after being torqued to 40lbs/ft, I am on a quest for a new oil plug. I ordered the EZ drain "system" from Geno's yesterday. Does anyone have it? Any problems, concerns or failures with it?

After studying the idea behind it, it appears that at an oil drain that not all of the oil will come out. Is this the case?

Let me know, I ordered a couple of other plugs and several different sytles of sealing washers trying to find a winning combo for the superplug.

Interesting you should ask as I too am watching the drain plug thread with interest. I'm not impressed with the EZ drain system because when I change my oil using the plug, I only need 10 Qts to refill. That leaves 2 Qts in the pan. The idea of the EZ drain is great, but I want to change out all the oil, not 85% of it. If I were you, I'd look for another solution. Mine's off as soon as I find a better plug. BTW, I still have the factory plug and considering that too. Anybody have a system they are happy with? Oh yeah, the EZ drain does come with a copper washer... might just keep that part on the truck. It's on solid as a rock, never loose.

After approximately sixty oil changes on my two rigs I see no problem with the stock drain plug. Have changed the washers a few times, not sure I even needed to do that. Especially like the way you don't have to remove it all the way to drain all the oil.

I have the drain plug that works like a ball valve. Not sure if it is the ez drain or not. I just drilled some holes in the end of it to get all the oil out. I have no problems and never get my hands oily... . It is really easy and there is no mess. .

3dracer has a good point. I saw a post on here last year where someone drilled small holes at the top of the "thread line" on the EZ Drain plug to get all of the oil out. That would work fine.

Personally, I have an EZ Drain on my 2001 and have not noticed it doesnt drain out all of the oil. Mine takes 11 quarts when I change it and with only 3,500 miles between changes, I don't feel if a little residual oil was left in, it wouldn't be serious.

Ditto on what SixPac said.

I put 11 quarts in. I get 11 quarts out. I understand from here and the manual that it takes 11 quarts. Someone please provide the correct information if this is wrong. With any plug, there will be some residual oil left. I guess you could unscrew the EZ after it quit dripping to see just how much it retains. I’m due for an oil change at the end of the month. I’ll try that. I sure like keeping clean using the EZ system. I thought it worked great.

I also have the EZ Drain Plug installed. No problems with it and it is the best way to change oil I have ever done. Haven't noticed that it leaves much oil but don't measure what comes out. For me the ease of use far outweighs a little oil left behind. I also made a little mount to carry the drain tube in the engine compartment for away from home oil changes.
