We will have to wait and see. I have seen some of these outfits buy a company that has been operating at a loss and strip if of all assets. That happened to Crown Zellerbach when I was working on a contract there. That company is no more.

Agreed. Maybe a combination of a manufacturer + capital (like Magna & Onex) would have been better for Chrysler employees & customers...

You are right, this isn't the correct forum. And yes, I knew it was a joke I wasn't offended nor angry. Just adding my two cents is all.



HOWEVER, my numbers are SPOT on as I looked them up before posting. I didn't want to say something that somebody could easily Google and prove me wrong.



As for your buddies, I have no idea who they are or what they do and of course they are entitled to their opinion. However I find that usually when people make a vague, broad statements like that they have an agenda or axe to grind. Tell your buddies I am sorry that Microsoft is evil for wanting to make a buck. That's what pisses most anti-MS people off.



My experience is based upon supporting a global, enterprise IT environment that includes MPE, UX, Linux and Microsoft. I can tell you that there is a reason that Microsoft now has the most install base of any OS. Oh, pass this along to your IT buddies as well:

More threadjacking. As to Win2003 Server being more reliable than Linux *today*, I'd accept that. MS has made considerable strides with the recent versions of Windows. And GNU/Linux/FOSS has moved into a period of ... some regression in stability, as the kernel undergoes wholesale change for v2. 6, GNU software is modernized, and much other open source GUI software is enhanced to be far more user-friendly. I expect another three years of relative instability in the GNU/Linux/FOSS world, then a somewhat extended period of exceptional stability and usability that will rival MS and Apple.



As to an investment firm buying Chrysler, they'll slash payroll, roll the heads of a few token managers, and otherwise maintain the status quo; entrenched managers who have built their kingdoms are very hard to dislodge.
