Bad day for the Ford guys.

How many people fell for this

I watched a really good movie today on the satillite dish. It was "Black Hawk Down".

Really good flick, one of the most realistic war movies I've ever seen. It has some really good special effects.

Kind of pisses me off thinking about how are government waisted all those fine men for some I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER hole sand filled country that didn't even want us there in the first place.

The Book is much better than the movie, if you can read it after or before you watch the movie.

i haven't read a book in so long. . i seem to have the attention span of a 4 year old [according to my friends:(] and with dyslexia, words get confusing real quick. i was going to buy that dvd, but there is suppose to be a better version [2discs] coming out in the future, so i thought i would wait for that. .

Great movie, way too depressing for me to watch a second time. If it was'nt a true story, it would be alot easier to watch.

Ditto what tpcdrafting said intense to say the least.

I walked out of the theatre ****** off at how the government and (some of) the people of the US treat Soldiers. Made me think back to the days of Vietnam. The military is /was doing what they were asked to do by our government where do they get off ******* on the guys in the trenches. Every single serviceman in the history of the US is a hero in my book willing to give their life (and many did)for the cause the government set forth whether they agreed with it or not and whether I agreed with it or not.

Sorry got off on a tangent there but it was a good movie it made me think about that stuff.

Read the book, listened to the book on CD, saw the movie at the theatre, have the DVD and have watched it twice.

"Marine Sniper" is another good book, but no accurate movie (the movie "Sniper" uses some of the shots that Carlos Hathcock made while serving as a/THE marine sniper in Vietnam).

Someone posted a link to the Medal of Honor winners documentation - it included Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon (the snipers that asked to be inserted to protect Mike Durant's crash site). It is undescribable what it must be like to volunteer to do something knowing that you will die doing it. It is easy enough for someone (myself included) to say that they could/would do it, but how do you really know?

Here's the link again:

Haven't seen the movie. Read the book, ended up throwing it across the room twice. I got so mad I thought I was gonna have a coronary. Yes, really. To me, it's not a war story. Instead,it's a horrible reminder that the fools in Washington D. C. do not back up our armed forces. Want to lose your kid who thinks he is proudly serving his country, yet is sent to a wasteland full of sub-humans, by a poorly-informed, faceless, crooked bureaucrat to be sacrificed as a political pawn? I know I don't .

Great movie. Reading the account of the action on the MOH page is very sobering. Guess I'll read the book next.

Marine Sniper is also a great read.

Maybe I am the only one who didnt like it. To me it seemed like it had little plot, other than bang bang bang, kill kill kill. It did tick me off because it does show how even today, in fighting, just how political it is, and expendable our soldiers are.

Sdalton,

Like I said read the book then watch to movie. :)

If they would have told the story from the begining it would have been 9 hours long.

The book is great. I read it in a week, I couldn't put it down.

About a year ago a guy I work with was reading the book and recommended it. I figured "what the heck?", it sounded interesting. I figured I'd read a chapter here or there and complete it in a week or two. I finished in 6 sittings. Then I read it twice more. I couldn't put it down! I agree with the anger and frustration felt by others, what a waste.

The movie was pretty good considering that to truely do it right would take hours and hours as mentioned. My wife wouldn't read the book. She came out of the movie very PO'ed.

By all means, if you haven't read the book, do so. If your reading skills aren't that good, go to the library and get on the waiting list and listen to it on tape. It's that good.
