Well folks, a little update on the BD spring kit. Last night I decided to tighten up on the springs to raise the rpm a bit. I was governing at 3500 and wanted to see how the low end would be affected with the increased tension on the spring packs. So I pulled the fuel-plate and cranked the locking retainer nut two clicks each side. Started the engine up and let it warm to reset the idle which was about 200 rpm higher. Fixed that and then ran into town to see what was up. Well the truck felt far more responsive and smooth in the lower end and up through to the new governing speed of 3650 + or - a few rpm. So this morning I set out to the horse show with goose neck in tow and was very happy with the response in comparison to last week's trip. To make a short story long, don't be afraid to play around with the spring tensions with a click here or a click there, you just may be surprised how things turn out.
I must say that for towing, the 280 fuel-plate, 370 injectors, HX40/16 and gov. spring kit makes for a very clean and powerful towing setup and the best I've had to date. This setup produces little smoke under hard pulls and almost zero smoke during normal towing, and that is with 40 psi max boost.
C Schomer, one of the affects of the spring kit is the ability to embarrass a couple of kids in a late 80's IROC Z28. I was running the 330 fuel-plate (48 psi boost) and shamed these poor unsuspecting youngsters with a big old cloud of dust and smoke. Not bad for big old 4X4.

Bill Gotthelf, I'll be the first to admit that I'm far from the Brain Surgeon skill level, actually the total opposite. All you need is a good heavy pencil magnet to hold onto those pesky springs. It's not much harder then the fuel-plate install, just more time consuming. Just wait until you're done to have the beer.
I'm enjoying this new toy from BD more and more everyday!!! So Piers what new toys are you thinking up??
