My buddy got one out of some local diesel shop around here for ridiculously cheap (not sure how... ). He hasn't put it in and is thinking about selling his truck. At very least I'm 99% sure he won't ever put it in because he tried to sell it to me. I'm not sure how much he'd want for it or anything, but I can ask. I'd try to find a local shop though. The best places aren't even the dedicated or at least primarily diesel pick up shops. The best places to find stuff for your truck (and that seem to be the most intelligent) for whatever reason tend to be the small little shops that cater mainly to the heavy duty trucks. I get all my exhaust parts from this place called Fuel Systems, and theyre awesome there. Thats where I'm gonna go when I decide to upgrade my turbo again. You walk in and the counter always has 3 or 4 turbos sitting on it, a couple of them taken apart, all of them for some customer. Right out in the store front theres a 10,000 floor jack thats about 5 feet long. Theres the scratch and dent stacks, 50% in the corner. They tend to be cheaper and have a better selection than the diesel pickup specific places. My only thought on this is that theres not a whole lot out there for our 1st gens, so a lot of us guys just improvise with generic parts... which often works out to fit a Cummins motor, but isnt Dodge specific. The diesel pickup shops dont really cater to customers like that. The sell the bolt up stuff for 3rd gens, and the chips for powerstrokes... that kinda stuff.

Oh... by the way, PT, its not that I can't argue that... I've been in this debate before... its just that when I get going I can't stop and I think I'd touch on a lot of topic that would probably flare up this 1st gen forum into a warzone. I'd rather not divide up this place, cuz I got nothing against any of you guys.

i totally agree with you matt. thats why i avoid the political forums. i also have nothing against any one here and dont want any reason to think any less of someone or have them think anyless of me. there is a time and a place for politics, and i feel that this is not one of them. with that said, lets move on to our buisness once more.

if your buddy does want to sell the housing let me know... ill check with my local guys and see what their able to get. thanks again

I guess just for what its worth, I can't say I'm exactly excited over the republicans up for election this time around either, its not just the dems I dont like. If he had a little better than a snowballs chance in hell, I think I'd give my vote to Huckabee. Romney was my bet before than and now hes out. Between everyone thats left, I find it hard to believe that these four idiots are the best people we have in a country of millions.

Anyway, I'll ask my buddy... I'm not sure when I'll see him next though, so if you find something better, jump on it. I believe my buddy painted his with some high temp paint, too, so I dont know if that will be a problem or anything...

Guys, I been in the political forum here once since I been a member, just took a look and beat feet! ;)

Don't worry about the paint, it'll burn of in a couple weeks anyways! :-laf

If you can get a housing from an older 4bt, it should be a 16. That's how I can get them. Try someplace like Michigan Turbo, just call and ask, I bought my turbo there many moons ago, good people to deal with. Or google for turbo repair shops. Like Matt said, avoid the performance shops if you can, big $.

Yeah, I told him I didn't think the paint would last. Supposedly his dad bought it at a muscle car swap meet and its supposedly the best stuff out there. Super high temp paint, made to paint exhaust systems. I dont think he realizes that those muscle cars exhaust systems dont reach near the temps of a suped up diesel's exhaust manifold or turbo. Maybe he likes the flaking paint look... ?

matt i think our political view are almost identical :D but i think i opened the pandoras box of politics no the injector pump. lets close that can for a while :)

the paint is no bother to me, but im going to check locally for a good price.

the intake and the 366 are in the mail.

does anybody have a picture or a sketch of a ground fuel pin. that would help me visualize the process so i dont get a supriss when i open the pump top. i got the spring job down i think, its just the diaphram and fuel pin that im a little unsure of.

The diaphram and fuel pin are the easy part. Theyre inside of the pump top, and come out with 4 screws. The spring is deeper into the pump. The pin is easy, dont worry about that.

well good that gives me a peace of mind. maybe when i open up the top and find the pin and set some eyes on it, then everything yall have told me about what to do with it, will finaly make sense :D im glad thats the easy part, i feel pretty confident about the spring.

im thinkin about doing the spring and then simply putting every thing back together, not turning up the fuel or adjusting the pin/diaphram, and just driving it with only the spring. that way i can note the differnce the spring makes, then once i do that, mess with the fuel and the diaphram.

it wont hurt anything to JUST put the spring in will it? the truck should run just as it did before, just more top end? then when i tweek the fuel ill get more power throughout the band, correct?

Obviously I can't speak from experience, but from what I've heard, the more you already have done, the more the spring gives you. According to the PDR website, when refering to the spring they say "it will allow your truck to spool up to 3200 rpm provided you have the fueling for it. " Or something along those lines. In other words, no, it won't hurt anything to leave the pump alone but put the spring in. You may still need to adjust your idle though. You might not get the full 3200 though, but oh well for now, right? You'll get that and then some when you decide to get back into the pump.

As far as the pin goes, it takes maybe all of 5 minutes to get it out, so you could even leave that for now too, until you see what the spring did. When you figure out what the spring gave you let me know, I'm a bit curious about had I done things a little different. And when you get that itch again, like I said, it takes all of 5 minutes to get the pin out, maybe a half hour to grind it, another 5 to put it back in. Double your time just to be on the safe side: hour and ten?

ok then, thats perfect. and by idle you mean, say if i put the spring in and it idles too high??? adjusting that just means backing out the screw that the throttle linkage rests on right?

yea ill definatly let you know how it responds to the spring with no pump mods. then ill play with the pump a bit :D

im gonna do the intake first, i think that will help me in the higher rpm range, cause it feels like the motor cant breath that well much past 2200rpms. so ill do the intake, then the spring, then pump mods.

You too lazy to look yourself? :-laf

Oops, sorry.

What I mean is, I don't know, I haven't been there today. :D

haha, well id be glad to look for it, but ive been on there in the past, and if my memory serves me right, you have to be a member to do anything over there?
