I just got my air horns and was crawling aroung under the truck trying to find a place to mount the horns. Was thinking about putting them under the passenger side battery and the stock horn. It seems like there would be a lot of other stuff to remove just to be able to mount them. I was thinking about an L shaped bracket that would attach to the fourth exhaust manifold bolt since it already is holding another bracket. Would the engine vibration and heat be detrimental to the horns? Has anyone else tried this or have any other mounting advice? I have the chrome Bully air horns. Thanks.

Mount the horns onto the radiator support cross member. There is more then enough room and they are somewhat protected there. The pump can be mounted forward of the battery on top of the frame and the tank has a nice home mounted to the ouside of the frame under the rear seat cab on the passanger side.

I jest installed a set on my truck this last weekend. I mounted the horns behind the bumper, on the passenger side brace using a flat straight piece of metal to connect the brace to the horn using exising hole in brace; mounted the compressor using the sam holes as the stock horns; remounted stock horns vertically on steel brace beside radiator; and mounted air tank on side of my air box under hood. Looks good, I can get to the air tank easily, and I only had to drill a hole in my air box.

Sounds really good!

Sorry to diverge slightly from the subject, but could you guys tell me where you got your horns? I've been considering a set of "bullys" and have been surfing the 'net but haven't found many sources. The best so far has been CampingWorld for about two and a half bills. Someone last summer mentioned getting them from JC Whitney for a little over 2 bills but I can't find them on the JCW site or in their recent catalog.

Thanks in advance.

Mine are mounted behind the bumper on the flat piece of steel that sits between the bumper and the harmonic balancer. I put the pump behind the fuse box under the hood and the air tank on the inside of the frame right below the driver's door.

Hi Guys- I've had my Hadleys for several years now and feel like I should give you a "heads-up". The horn kit's only weak spot is the compressor. I know you'll "snoop" all your fittings with a soap solution to insure a leak free connection, but in a couple of years you're going to loose pressure in the tank and scratch various parts of your anatomy trying to find the leak. It will be the pump. There is no check valve on the discharge of the pump so the only pressure retention is the intake valve. Eventually, there will be some crud that unseats that valve to cause a slow leak. If, like me, you can't find a rebuild kit, consider installing an extra tank or two and do away with the pump. No moving parts, and the horns are very efficient in the db/psi. I love my Hadleys!

I've replaced my compressor with a Firestone/BD unit with push-lock fittings that never leak. The unit is very strong and fills a Bendix 3 gallon tank in the same time the Hadley one filled that small tank.

Sorry guys, but I couldn't live with myself if I mounted the horns where noone could see them. I mounted the Hadley "Ambassadors" on the ROOF. Thats right-the ROOF. These horns are big-27" and 29" and they blow people off the sidewalks. Also, the horns I got did have a check valve in the kit that mounted at the tank end. They really look great too-sorry I'm "computer-challenged" otherwise I'd post a picture too. Good luck

Paul,

I mounted my Hadley Bullys about 6 months ago and just love them. They are AWESOME! Definately get the attention of those stupid drivers!

Check out these sites for information on the way I mounted them on my truck.

I purchased my horns at Camping World with my PC discount.

I mounted my Bully horns on the cross member right behind the front bumper. I only had to drill one hole for the mounting. I used an existing hole for the tubing. The tank went on the fender support bracket below the headlight. Again, only needed one additional hole for the tank as the bracked already has one. The compressor was mounted on the plate just below the battery (right behind the head light). I picked up power from a switched source so the compressor only runs with the key on.

The new compressors has a check valve to help prevent leaking.

I think the bully's sound like a diesel train engine. They get attention at 135DB sound level.

I was at the warehouse today loading some cabinets and the company 18 wheeler drove in and blew his horns. I waited until he walked in front of the "White Obsession" and let him hear my Bullys. #ad
He about S*** his pants. #ad
He couldn't believe how much louder the Bullys were compared to the horns on the 18 wheeler. I just grined! #ad
