I love Dodge Trucks but it is this type of behavior that makes me avoid Daimler Chrysler dealerships. I just took my ram in for transfer case leak. Later that day I took it home but I noticed a noise from the drive train. When looked at the drive shaft the center bearing was not bolted to the truck, the drive had been just flopping around. The center bearing and all the u-joints had grease squirting out all over the place.

Well I had it towed back to the dealer and they bolted up the center bearing and said everything was fine. To make a long story I finial ended up in the service manger office and said there was nothing he could do. After the threat of the complaint with the California Bureau of Automotive repair, he agreed the replace the center bearing & all joints.

I couldn’t believe I had to go trough all that! To make things worse the mechanic that did the original work was certified master mechanic. It is just the Daimler Chrysler business model. They won’t pay for a thing if you don’t push them. I love their trucks but I hate their service!

I consider this entire thread nothing more than one poster's opinion without proof and a lot of nonsense.

I'm sorry to see someone resurrect it.

To claim that one bad experience with one dealer technician who probably forgot to check his work before he reported it completed or, at worst, is not a good technician, in one dealership is the Daimler-Chrysler business model is a truly stupid statement.

Daimler hasn't owned Chrysler for several years now and the product manufacturer does not set the business model for any dealership regardless of brand. Individual dealerships or the corporations that own them establish their business model and no dealership owner wants overlooked fasteners in work his service department has done.

OK..... did you read the first post??? The beginning of the cummins engine warranty is what is really on the table here. I, for one, completely agree with the op's interpretation and he was successful fighting dodge over his WARRANTY coverage. I don't know why dodge chose to right up the warranty booklet the way they did, my 07 book reads the same exact way. The original post is good, factual info. that every dodge/cummins owner should know.

My 2007 warranty booklet reads the same as the original poster's..... the 5/100 cummins engine warranty begins at the conclusion of the 3/ 36 warranty... This thread is contrary to what most owners understand, that fact doesn't make it in-correct.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but to call my opinion “baseless” and “a stupid statement” demonstrates you own ignorance. I will not bother to explain the other 3 times at had a similarly problems at 2 separate Chrysler Dodge dealerships. One time I even had to get an attorney to have warrenty work done, on a new car, I purchased from that dealer. In each case the same issue came up. They would not fix anything until you complain, complain and complain. It is there business model, fight, fight, fight and don't pay for anything they do not have to.

One more thing I did not say that the dealership wanted a mechanic that leaves fasteners undone, what I said was they refused to accept responsibility for their actions and did not want to pay for the damage they had done!

THAT IS THE MODEL THAT CHRYSLER/DODGE LIVES BY!

And I stand by my above comments!
