I see that AFE has a spacer to replace heater grids. It is supposed to give better air flow and performance.

Have any real tests been done on this type of enhancement?

is it worth the time and trouble?
 
I have the DTT setup seen below, which included the heater grid substitution block. Some possible improvement in airflow, but I've never seen any flow figures, or power gain figures - I just chalk it up as an appearance piece, rather than a power improver...

I think it is more for the big boys than anything. For example, my friend has a commonrail that has been dynod at 580 horsepower and he is still running his grid heaters. It wouldnt start without them up here in the winter. Unless you plan on going big I dont think it will make much difference
