Tankless gas water heater?

I have a 1998 JEEP Cherokee 4X4 I think the computer went bad. The gauges don't work and I can't hear the fuel pump kick on and it won't start. I got a OBDII code reader and it said can't connect error. I was wondering if any of you know somewhere online I can find one of these "ECM"s or if it is a dealer only item. Thank you. Jason

I used to work in an automotive warehouse and I know for a fact that aftermarket remanufactured ECMs are available for MUCH cheaper than the dealer. As Black Pearl points out rockauto is a great place to look. If they don't satisfy you try a local Auto Value parts store.

You might also be able to score a computer from a junkyard. I just searched around http://www.car-part.com (limited to Indiana) and got probably 20 hits, from $125 on down.

Are all of your fuses good? and not just the ones under the dash, check out the power center under the hood as well.

I don't think the gages would be affected by a bad computer??? I would look at the ignition switch and ground circuits to make sure you are powering up when the switch is in the on position. bg

That is something to look into. I remember my wife telling me that the gauges quit working one other time. The starter turns over just no fire. I will keep trying thanks a bunch guys. Great family we have here. Jason

Owned a '93. Can't remember if the gauges quit also but mine was blowing the Main Engine Control Fuse, it's a large 30 amper. After numerous tows to the dealer they still couldn't find what was makeing it blow. After being stranded many times even with a bunch of spares I got rid of it after the warrenty was up.
