MMmm. . Did you say they have to "live" with it? MMmmm... Maybe they should have just ended it then and avoided all this suffering. Poor girls. I guess they still could if it's really that bad.

How can anyone compare the relatively slight suffering you speak of with death? That' right, DEATH! For cryin-out-loud man, we're talking about no life at all here! No ice cream! None! Ever!

I agree with MOST of the idealogy of abortion is wrong. Painterdsl (I believe) brings up a good point, and statistics support, that most (>75%) of abortions are performed on unmarried teens. I wish everyone here would TRULY think back to when they were the age 15 to 21. What kinds of decisions did you make???? Were they perfect???? Without consequences (sp)??? IF you could go back in time, BUT with the wisdom and perspective of years, would you make the same decisions????

I view abortion like I do many things biblical. The Good Book (Bible) lays out a path for all of us to follow. It is a great flow chart if you will of how we should live our lives. Imagine a map of the U. S. A. and how many differant ways there are to get from New York (Birth) to California (Death). As we make our journey, there are inumerable road blocks and detours. Just because you chose to go to Florida before even LOOKING for Cali. , does not mean you did IT (Life) wrong. God may not have meant for you to visit Florida, but he WILL forgive you (I'm not going to Quote scripture) if you ask him. There is only one sin or detour he will not forgive. During this trip (life) some of us may not get out of Pensylvannia, while others may get stopped in Kansas or Nebraska. Many will make it to Cali. and be rewarded.

The thing about abortion is that many, not all, who are adamently against it, simply say DON'T HAVE SEX!!!!!!!! That's well and good if everyone were robots we could program them. How did you learn to work on your truck???? You were either taught by someone or bought a book and taught yourself. Yet we (collective Americans) don't teach our children about sex and reproduction. In many parts of the Country, we don't want ANYONE to teach OUR children about sex. Yet we (parents) in turn don't teach them at home. It is a viscious cycle, you don't teach and you reap the results.

Sorry for the long post but just trying to offer a differant perspective. I have no malice towards anyone in the above mentioned states

P. S. I hope it makes sense.

P. S. S. Father of three, Two Daughters, One son.

First of all I resent California being labeled 'Death':D

I think we can all agree that abortion should never be seen as a form of birth control. There are plenty of options there. However, what about the cases where a couple was using birth control and still got pregnant? The couple was being responsible but there is no form of birth control other than abstinence is fool proof. I don't think it's viable to tell a married couple not to have sex... ... ...

I don't consider abortion murder. Murder is predicated on the victim being alive. A fetus below X weeks CANNOT survive on its own outside the womb (or some facsimile thereof) therefore it is not 'alive' IMO. In that respect a fetus can almost be called a parasite. I know, not a good analogy but it makes the point. I'd love to see the pro-life side try and force a woman to carry a fetus to term via the courts. Something about personal property rights comes to mind.....

I think

I think all taking of life is wrong including abortion. All life is sacred and the taking of it should be thought out very carefully. From the unborn child, to the death row inmate, to the assisted suicide.

I understand everyones point and respect their opinion. And if I would ever have to help anyone in my family make the desicion to have an abortion, It would weight very heavily on me. My desicion would be NO. But, I am of good health and able to take a child in and raise it. It would be rough, but I would do it.

I have and do see circumstances that warrant abortion. It is sad, but they exsist. The world is not perfect. I would love to see abortion not needed.

We do have several situations going on right now with Embryo cellular regeneration for medical research. Whats everyones opinion on this? Do we clone cells to research fixes for spinal cord injurys or paralysis? I say yes.

I agree with shrimpy

The root (no pun intended) of the cause is lack of proper education. I have seen many people (both Catholic and Protestant) who are staunch pro-lifers and don't want sex education taught in their kids junior high. Then, they wonder how their teenage daughter got pregnant.

IMHO, the kids should get a responsible and intelligent sex education from their parents. I know there are many who can't even teach their kids to tie their shoes, so there should also be some sort of program in the schools to make up for that.

I also agree with LarryB. The time for choice is BEFORE THE ACTION. If they don't want the kid, then they can wait nine months and put the child up for adoption. There are plenty of assistance organizations to help them do that. My theory is: there are quite a few who are afraid that, when the kid comes out, they would not WANT to give him/her up. So, they just kill it. That sucks.

The gray areas of incest and rape are difficult. I don't pretend to have any easy answers for those cases. I do think that abortion should be avoided at all costs.

I did not fight in any wars, and I deeply appreciate and respect all who have. However, I have an Uncle who was a WWII tailgunner in a B-17 over Europe (and suprisingly lived). I know for darn sure that HE was not fighting for someones choice to kill an unborn child. And neither was my Grandad who fought in WWI, or another Uncle of mine who fought in Korea, or another who served two tours as a Marine in Viet Nam. I know from talking to each of them, that they fought hard and killed as many of the enemy as they could. They also gained a DEEP respect, and love, of life and especially their children. Something I'll never comprehend, because I didn't endure the HELL they lived.

Funny thing

I fought for the rights of people that i dont know or even want to know! I fought for the right to disagree! This is a great country and i think that we should do more parent to teen educating! This will help prevent the sadness that is going on throughout the country! ABORTION IS VERY TRAGIC!!! Lets educate, not kill!! I believe in the freedom to choose. Its sad to kill something just because it may be a burdon. I think that a child born with a open brain or something extreem like that would be happier without the pain. Ever seen a child born with an open spine? Life for them is very painful. Im not here trying to push my views on to anyone else. I have seen the pain, day in and day out! Cant go out and play , cant ride a bike, cant even walk most of the time!

Of course this is just IMHO!

Well Doc, at least then the women would see exactly what they are doing.

Champane, I can imagine the number of women you know who had abortions and the number of women you know who regretted it are the same.

Equal Rights For Unborn Women!

Jay

Wrong

Wrong BD, there are several who have no regrets. It is sad, but so. It is not as cut and dry as it seems to the people who think they live in a perfect world.

I have taken life in war and it wasn't because of my country, freedom, or a way of life, it was because it was me or them. I think some of the women think this way when making their decision.

Is it allright with you bible thumpers to murder the doctors and other abortion clinic employees?

While religeon and pro-life thinking does have its place, any fanaticism is potentialy dangerous. Just look at the Middle east! They believe their "God" is thee God just as much as you believe in yours. Calm down, do some LOGICAL thinking rather than emotional spew as there is an over abundance of your kind here and the world and its people are not benefitting, to say the least.

Pray? You bet! Force my thinking on others, never!

Now go on and lay out some more of your retoric. In the meantime I will grab a beer and pray for you!

Mike

Maybe I misunderstood some of the posts but, are some of you saying that under any circumstance abortion is wrong. I would find it impossible to tell some 16 year old child that she has to relive a rape/incest everyday for the next nine months then give birth to her half brother or be labelled a MURDERER. Is anything in this world that cut and dried, right or wrong?

Trying to make sense of your post.

You are the first to mention killing the killers.

Ditto religion.

Ditto fanaticism.

"an over abundance of your kind here and the world and its people are not benefitting, to say the least. "

HUH?

Try and convince me how killing the innocent unborn is benefiting mankind.

"Force my thinking on others, never! "

That apply to the guy holding a gun on you?

Jay

Bull Crap

I'm far from being a fanatic, and I am not a bible thumper. I was stating my opinion and those of my family. What someone else believes is of no importance to me. However, when their beliefs interfere with the life of some innocent kid (accident or not), I think that is very wrong. Also, I think it is quite ignorant to kill an abortion doctor. It kind of defeats the whole purpose of the pro- life thing.

Contrary to the doctrine of my religion, I am in favor of the death penalty. I know that is not pro-life in the fullest sense, but a convicted murderer is a little more of a hazard to society than a little kid.

I just think it is kind of silly that pro-choice people are so quick to label those who oppose their stance. Calling them bible thumpers and fanatics. I have never heard anyone I know stick a derogatory label on, or make fun of, those who aren't religious or even those who are pro-choice. All I have heard is that we need to pray for them, and we try.

Doc-

There is something kind of like that, it is called partial birth abortion, and it is one of the worst methods.

Baby,

I (meaning me), am amazed, (meaning surprised), that you, (meaning "Baby Driver"), cannot, (meaning fail), understand, (meaning "get"), my writting, (meaning opinion), but somehow, (meaning seemingly understand), can interpret, (see understand), The Bible.

I have dealt with religeous zealots all of my life there is nothing new here and what you say and think does not "hold water".

If you want to do some real good for your fellow man do some real action like charity. Give old blankets and clothing to the less fortunate. Mom and I cover up graffitti, mom and the elder down the road run a "food bank". Talk is cheap and just wasted oxygen!

God Bless

Mike
