Poor Powerstroke

Need More Power From DT466

About our CTD.

What does 1 degree of timing advance give you in horse power?

A pound of boost adds how many horse power?

I dynoed my truck this week. Just figuring out where I got most of my gain.

Stock 175 horse motor. 18lbs boost. 12. 5 degree timing.

Still stock after adjustments. 28 lbs boost. Cam plate full forward. Star wheel screwed forward. Timing 15 degrees. Afe PG7. Straight through exhaust.

Dynoed 236 hp at the rear wheel.

Torque 584.

Do these hp and torque numbers sound all right?

Can only imagine what the 370's,DV Valves and Gov springs will do?

I'm not that good a drummer Jeff, but roughly one pound of boost relates to @ 10 HP at the flywheel. This is a very rough test. Its the R. wheel H/P that matters and is more accurate on a dyno. With added weight on the back of the truck, the HP changes again with more friction on the wheel bearings and tires etz. ;)

Add a #5 plate to the above combination with 16* of timing and you will be at 450 HP and about 950 ft-lbs :D

A #4 and a GSK would have to be my recommendation and as a bonus these would cost less than 370's and DV's, and are much easier to install.

Oh yeah, start thinking about a clutch too...

Mike

P. S. According to one much more knowledgable than myself, the #4 and GSK should be good for just less than 300hp and just over 700ftlb.

Whatever they are, it feels GOOD! :D
